Found this old drawing a few days ago. Was, back then, inspired by stuff like the "Just Imagine If Stan Lee Created..." series, where Stan "The Man" Lee gave us his takes on classic DC Comics characters and concepts.
I began to ponder to myself about such things, and took a few of my favorite (or least favorite in this case) anime shows, and gave my own little spin on such shows. Well as it turns out, (ironically) the only idea that got a bit more farther than the rest was my spin on Pokemon, as shown above.
My take would be to have the Monster aspect emphasized more than the annoyingly sick cuteness or the fact that you can carry them in your Pocket. Then I decided to mix it up even further and added the concept of summoning kaiju-sized monsters to battle it out. Obviously this world would be considerably more chaotic than the original concept, with (mostly) abandoned cities serving as the arenas for these giant-sized monsters.
So here are the kaiju based on Pikachu and Blastoise, just... bigger... and meaner... and above 100 times more destructive. :P
Never really got that far, since I couldn't think of a good motivation behind the trainers' decisions to own and train these towering beasts. Or where these creatures came from, or how the hell one keeps adequate control over giant monsters? Not to mention where the heck one keeps these things when they're not being used? Not to mention how one even captures them to begin with, or how wild/feral ones are kept from demolishing the non-abandoned cities.
WAY too many plot holes and things I couldn't quite figure out. THAT and I was never really into Pokemon, so that kinda contributed as well.
*shrugs* OH well, just wanted to share an old (and quite silly) idea with you all. Hope it looks good.

Plot holes large enough for the UES Thunderchild (which, sans radiators, is a cone with a base diameter of 5km and height of 15km) to pass through...with its radiators extended. Not that it wasn't bad enough already, given that relatively normal-scale stuff can mess up existence...
