Another 40k imperial guard regiment I made up :) I based them on 15th century Italy and on the concept that their technology level is higher then a atypical Feudal World in the Imperium but in alot of ways their tech is somewhat backwards and maintains a traditional approach to using it rather then the modern outlook for using technology. As such they often have odd yet highly effective equipment and vehicles despite their out-dated look and archaic use of imperial technology. For example, the common las-gun issused to a Fusilier guardsman is one of their own make; which is the Pisani Mk II Las-Lock Rifle; which mimics the function of a standard las-lock rifle but has higher stopping power and armor penetration at the cost of being temperamental and loud; it generates las energy charges from a energy capacitor on the guardsman's back which allows the gun to store several charges before reloading. Due to this, they make great area denial specialists and skilled sharpshooters though somewhat hard to manage due to their proud nature and want of showing their house's colour & heraldry. I have more written on them, I just like creating stuff aka world-building in general; I thought about trying to make my own imperial sector and populate it with a variant of factions, aliens, planets, etc.

Apparently they even have a regiment based on the Italian mountain troops of WW1, including a sniper who manages to kill a Chaos lord. They were called the Dieprian Mountain Men - now why can't Black Library write more fiction about units like that? They even look awesome.

I have to agree, I would love to see books on the Dieprian Mountain Men, Orcan Stonecrushers, Semtexian Bombardiers, Athonian Tunnelrats, etc; alot of them have great potential to become fully-fledged regiments expanded upon like Death Korps of Krieg, Cadians, etc. But largely due to the lack of attention, they just want to keep the ones that have alot of popularity in the lime light instead of passing the torch. This can be greatly seen in Space Marines :/
