Kiir and Niyot - Certan Reference Sheet 2017
Some personal work I managed to squeeze in. I've never done a reference sheet for Kiir or Niyot, Jayli's saurian companions, which was criminal of me so I finally addressed that. Yes, by all appearances, the Certans are, essentially, Jurassic Park raptors with horns - an artefact of my childhood love for dinosaurs - but I don't care <3 Here they are just as they should be! Kiir has remained or less identical to how he's always looked, although even now I'm not entirely happy with Niyot - originally, he was much plainer in appearance, but then I had a dream with him a few years back as black with cream strips and shocking patches of crimson and have since struggled to quite capture just how lovely he looked :b Anyway... *cuddles her scalies like a weirdo* <333

Yeah, I didn't want to give them, like, -actual- dromaeosaur anatomy, just definite similarities. As for the orifice of concern, haha, well, I thought the little vertical(ish) line under Kiir's tail served well enough for that, but to be honest, I actually wasn't certain where things would go exactly with the way the pelvic bone changes the "geography" back there :b but figured it was "close enough" - I had actually assumed you would complain, though XD
Hah! You know me too well.
I do understand your conundrum, though. as there's a fair amount of landscape available: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0.....g?v=1403499533
Maybe this would help: https://www.cgstudio.com/3d-model/v.....keleton-752953 One of the angles offers the rare and coveted rear pelvic cavity (ventral) view.
Though this: https://img13.deviantart.net/2bc3/i.....e_shadow24.jpg seems pretty straight forward.
Research summary suggests wrinkly area. Butt who knows.

Butt who knows indeed :V
lol, "wrinkly area" doesn't super narrow it down much, butttt anyway, I kind of just assumed it'd be tucked in beneath the tail where it meets the body where it goes on most animals :b If I think too much about it I get obsessive so I've been trying to avoid that since it's in no way really important to the image XD

Well just keep in mind that reptiles differ from mammals in this respect. The reproductive passage of reptiles tends to inhabit the tail, rather than being below it as with mammals..... even in the case of thick-tails like otters and roos. Butt as you mentioned, that pelvic bone makes things a little unusual. Even for dinosaurs.
Yeah, I know. I remember being surprised the first time I realised that my snake's butt was actually waaaaaay at the end of his body and that his "tail" was actually only a tiny portion :3 I mean, I knew they needed the long digestive tract for the food they swallow whole, but it somehow never resulted in me mentally placing the butt quite that far along the body :b And yeah, I remember on my gecko the cloacal opening being further along than it would be on a mammal although I didn't give it much of a look other than to wonder what its sex was at first because the shopkeeper wasn't certain (after she laid eggs, ithough, t made things pretty obvious!)
