you know what i find helps with poses? measure up your proportions for a standard old facing the camera pose, make all the body bits shapes and have each on a new layer (make sure youre using photoshop ) then free transform it into the pose you want, make a new layer and trace around it then delete all your other layers, also when you are going for that looks smaller from further away look, then i suggest having a triangular shape narrow or wide depending on the angle and draw your charactor so it fits inside of the triangle, this works with scenes as well. hope this helps!
