Some people go on dates. Talrik and Rook did, to a seedy establishment in the Blue Sector of Corellia where they had ribs, beer, and a front-row seat to people beating the crap out of each other.

But despite the differences in attitudes and personalities, they were best for each other. When people describe their 'soul-mate,' they talk about what they expect in such a person's qualities, usually in a way that matches their own (or their own perception of themselves).

But these two...? They weren't best for each other because they were alike- they were best for each other because despite being so different, they brought out the best in each other. Rook brought out Talrik's confidence, his inner ability to weather any struggle for the people he cared about; Talrik brought out Rook's compassion, allowing her to become part of a 'clan', a pack of misfits with whom she worked best.

Funnily enough, when these two first met Talrik threw a knife into her arm- and now it's their primary way of bonding. <3 They truly are "cyare'se"- "loved ones", in Mando'a.
