The HAVOK-I A is the first HAVOK series model that Yuan Industries ever produced. Cheap, yet durable, and more efficient than other RIs at that time. Used primarily for shipboard combat, the HAVOK-I A proved to be a fearsome opponent in any environment.
The Solar Wars required a drone army that could deal with a wide variety of scenarios. The HAVOK-I A met this need through small unit tactics, impressive accuracy, and high resistance to projectile and energy weapons. Each unit is controlled via a Swarm-type AI network, which is in turn governed by a human operating a control interface. This allows the human operator to hang back, safe from the battle zone, while directing the AI to command individual drones or groups of any size. This had the added benefit of giving organic troop commanders knowledge of the battlefield without being anywhere near the fighting.
The HAVOK-I A’s use was widespread, due to the sheer numbers that were produced. After the Solar Wars, some of the units saw use by private security forces, but many drones were left sitting in warehouses. After the HAVOK-II B came into production, Yuan Industries scrapped most of its remaining HAVOK-I As. However, there are allegations that YI may have sold many units instead of scrapping them, as substantial numbers have shown up in the hands of criminals.
