The last, and most advanced, of the HAVOK-I series. Rare, but dangerous.
For those who can't or won't read the text:
"An experiment with a self-governing AI, the HAVOK-I Captain model was designed as a field commander and an executive officer. Yuan Industries attempted to increase the efficiency of its HAVOK-Is by introducing a commander unit capable of tactical thinking, threat evaluation, and interacting with human officers.
The Solar Wars saw heavy use of communications jamming and cyber warfare. Yuan Industries foresaw the danger of HAVOK-I units being cut off by interference or malfunction, and gave the Captain model the ability to govern other units. If a human commander lost the ability to command their HAVOK-Is, the HAVOK-I C would remotely take command of the Swarm AI and direct the units. The independence to develop battle strategies also accounted for any situation where human judgement was in error. Should a human commander lack tactical training or knowledge, the Captain model would be able to improvise and offer a sound course of action.
While not intended for front-line action, the HAVOK-I C was given tough armor and advanced movement servos, in case the need to fight ever arose. A more human appearance was used to make the HAVOK-I C less alien, due to the need to interact with humans. A voice synthesizer was added, with multiple pre-programmed vocal accents that could be used upon request. Limited personality programming further increased the RI’s relatability. The goal was to make human operators feel at ease with the unit, eliminating the anxiety of dealing with a machine that could think for itself.
Advanced tactical thinking, tougher armor, quicker movements, and superior marksmanship gave the Captain model a clear edge over the standard HAVOK-I. But, while an undeniable success on the battlefield, the HAVOK-I C’s independence led some to fear their potential for artificial sentience. These fears were realized when it was discovered that HAVOK-I Cs developed disturbingly human behaviors over time, including arrogance, aggression, and instances of disobedience. This led to most of the bots being scrapped, and all further YI products being based on the human-governed Swarm AI. The few HAVOK-I C models that remain are largely museum pieces, but there have been reports of a few in the company of rich barons, crime lords, and pirates."
Inspired by those robots from the movie The Black Hole.
