She is clearly a cutting edge robot made by humans to fight in the war that wiped them out.

They were dual purpose and when not in 'battle mode' they act as normal fauna to sustain the environment, as real animals of which the robots where made of were wiped out.

The moment she feels threatened she will pop out rocket launchers from her back.

Her world view is not the only world view.

This might date me: My uni considered buying one of the first LCD projectors on the market. It required the assistance of an overhead projector. It was this flat panel thing that lay on the projector and projected a B&W computer screen image.

One teacher at my school turned an OHP into a movie projector by taking the back off an old laptop screen and sticking it on.

So this is foreshadowing and we actually see humans in her world and one of them turns her into a projector. got it.
