“All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you....digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.”
My Watership Down tribute! Still a WIP, but oh well. A painted a real rabbit skull in shifting shades of copper and antique gold that have a lovely warmth. A sculpted sun crowns the skull, and those who have seen the animated WS film will recognize that sun as Frith, the god of creation in rabbit mythology. Frith-sun has been bathed in 18k liquid gold leaf and lightly stained with red-orange to bring out detail.
Below Frith is El-ahrairah himself, hand painted in a stylized design with a single white Swarovski crystal as his eye. A golden glow surrounds the divine rabbit, as befitting any demigod.
The skull's teeth have also been done in 18k gold, and a few more touches of real gold can be found here and there. I am going to add some swirls to the lower jaw using the style seen in the opening sequence of the animated film...actually, I may do a swirl on one side and the crescent moon symbol of Inle, which is the symbol of the Black Rabbit.
I am making him a little display stand, but I am also thinking of putting this skull on a copper chain so it can be worn as a pendant when not on the display stand. Should I? =/
Additional pics available from more angles, pm me and I'll link you!
