“I know there are Pikachu around here,” drooled Zaron the Raichu as he patrolled the forest. His belly rumbled as he wiped the drool from his fat face. He used his other paw to rub his stomach in hopes of quieting it. “They’re around here and I better find them soon. Been too long since I recharged on one of those little, yellow batteries.”
Searching a bit further, Zaron spotted a cave and licked his chops expectantly like he already had a Pikachu in his clutches. Venturing inside, the first thing he noticed, was that the pathway quickly became narrower the further he went. Eventually, it became too small for even a regular-sized Raichu to fit, let alone one that superseded the average weight of one like himself.
Despite this, Zaron got down on his belly and poked his head in to take a look inside and too his mouthwatering delight, he saw that it was full of Pikachu, at least a dozen from what he was able to see from his vantage point. Zaron noticed that they had the place set up like a secret base of sorts, with food, furniture, and even some games. There were a couple Pikachu singing karaoke too, but none of that interested Zaron as much as the thought of how happy his gut was going to be as soon as he stuffed every last one down his throat.
“I’ve hit the jackpot this time,” he grinned, causing drool to leak out his maw. With renewed vigor, he attempted to force his way into the cavern, but his size was still much too big to fit and his efforts only managed to get him an inch closer and almost get him stuck. He opted to retreat back to avoid that.
“Well, who do we have here?” asked one of the Pikachu who noticed Zaron spying on them and brought it to everyone else’s attention too. He had messy fur all over his body rather than sleek fur that was more common among Pikachu. “Looks like we mice have a rat in our presence.”
“That’s uncalled for,” Zaron said not liking rude food. “What did I ever do to you to be given such an uncalled for welcome?”
“You mean besides eat tons of other Pikachu?” another Pikachu asked, this one wearing ribbons on her ears. She glared down at Zaron along with the rest of them. “We know all about Zaron, the diabolical Pikachu eater. Your reputation precedes you. Congrats.”
“Oh, so just because there is some Raichu that goes around eating Pikachu like a Snorlax eats its weight in food you instantly assume it’s me. Just come outside in the open with me and I’ll show you that I’m not this Zaron fellow.”
“Nice try, but we know all the signs of the Pikachu eater,” a bespectacled Pikachu countered. He adjusted his glasses and then read from a checklist. “First thing, does the Raichu in question drool an abnormal amount at the sight Pikachu.”
“I’m just hungry and see all the good food you have in there,” lied Zaron trying to cover up for all his drool that had formed a small puddle on the floor around his chin.
“Next thing,” continued the Pikachu with glasses. “Is said Raichu unusually fat?”
“I have a glandular disorder,” he fibbed shamelessly. “None of that proves a thing.”
“Lastly, does he have a Pikachu-yellow-colored belly fur?” he finished.
“So, I dyed my fur,” scoffed Zaron. “You have no concrete proof.”
“Hey, Zaron, wanna eat us?” offered another Pikachu, this one wearing a baseball cap.
“Yes, please,” he answered instantly and opened his maw wide like it was another cave entrance. “One at a time, no pushing, and please wipe your feet before going inside.”
“Aha!” the Pikachu with unkempt fur declared. “Got ya!”
“Wait, that was a test?” he asked disappointed. “Strange. I’m usually able to gobble up Pikachu rather easily. By now half of you should already be in my belly.”
“That’s because we are no ordinary group of Pikachu,” the messy-furred Pikachu continued. “We are the PPL, the Pikachu Protection League, and the one purpose our group exists for is to make sure you don’t vore any of us. We built this secret base and stockpiled it with food and the second we caught word that you were in the area we all bunkered down here to wait till you leave. What do you think of that?”
“I think you look like a bunch of tasty morsels who think they are so smart, but don’t realize who they are messing with,” stated Zaron. “You can’t stay in here forever. Your food will run out eventually and I’ll be waiting.” Zaron’s stomach then let out another noisy rumble and undermined the threatening tone he was going for.
“It looks like the advantage is with us,” mocked the Pikachu with a hat. “We’ve got food for days and you can’t go five minutes without stuffing that fat face of yours.”
“And just to give you an idea where you stand,” informed the Pikachu with glasses. “There are no other Pikachu in the area. And from the data we’ve managed to collect about you, we can easily avoid being eaten by you and eventually you will have to give up and go elsewhere to find Pikachu and when you do we’ll have proven that our group’s methods are able to beat you and we can share them with other Pikachu till you’re finally on a permanent Pikachu-free diet.”
“Face it,” scolded the female Pikachu with bows. “You will never gobble up another innocent Pikachu ever again Better start rethinking your diet now.”
Growling with rage at such defiant food, Zaron raged at them. “This isn’t over!” he bellowed as he retreated back out of the cave. “You might think you have me figured out, but you will learn soon that no Pikachu can escape me. They all belong in my belly and one way or another all of you will end up in there just like the countless others. So, for now, enjoy what time you have left because I always win in the end. Always…”
“Darn Pikachu,” grumbled Zaron after making it out of the cave so he could figure out some way to eat those Pikachu. “They think they’re so smart hiding in that cave of theirs. They think I can’t get them while they’re in there and they are… absolutely right. I hate it! Even if I was willing to try and slim down to get in, not even a regular-sized Raichu could fit. So long as they stay in there I can’t get them.” Grabbing his phone, Zaron checked the bars and sighed upon seeing the words, “No Reception.” “Can’t even call in for something to help me out. I’m on my own and I’m too hungry to think. I better find some non-Pikachu food just to relax my belly for now.”
Wandering even deeper into the forest, Zaron scrounged up whatever food he could find, emptying trees of berries and fruit, but to his dismay he couldn’t find anything more substantial to fill him up. His mind turned to thoughts of fast food places and buffets, but those thoughts just ended up making him even hungrier.
“Oh, why does the middle of nowhere have to be so deep into nowhere?” he complained and ruffled the fur on his head out of frustration. “So hungry! Isn’t there anything good around here to eat?”
Zaron wasn’t sure how much longer he could stand his ever intensifying hunger, but then a miracle occurred. He caught the scent of something he had never smelled before. It was sweet and fragrant. It almost made him think of honey, but he was certain it wasn’t that as he suddenly found him following his nose towards it like he couldn’t resist it and with just how hungry he was, it was likely he couldn’t.
“Whatever is making that wonderful smell must taste just as delicious,” prayed Zaron. “It better cause I wanna gobble it up!” The smell grew stronger with every step he took till it finally became so overpoweringly wonderful he was certain he was practically on top of it. Looking around, Zaron expected whatever to be giving off such a scent for such a distance to be big and obvious, but everything around him appeared to be ordinary forest. Lifting his nose up to smell again he found it was so strong in the area that he couldn’t narrow it down anymore. Rubbing his multi chin, he kept scanning the area as he looked around. Then he stepped on something that felt like a rubber hose, though one that looked much too wide to be used for watering flowers. Looking down, he examined the black-hued curiosity more closely and touched it with his paws, poking and pinching it and anything else he thought to try. He found that it did have a rubber-like quality to it, but it also seemed to have a flesh-like quality too.
Next, Zaron attempted to follow the hose thing to one of its ends and soon found one of the tips that ended with a series of rings followed by a yellowish sac-like thing that was hollow on the inside though part of it had a flap on it to give it a bulbous appearance. Examining the black rings first, Zaron found them rubbery too and even more interesting, he was able to expand and contract them rather easily, like an accordion and doing so seemed to affect the rest of the hose thing as the flap opened on the sac end and made a sucking sound like it was inhaling air.
“Just what in the world is this thing?” wondered Zaron so fixated on it that he had even forgotten his hunger. Picking up the sac part and examining it, it was rubbery like the rest of the hose, but felt softer, almost as delicate as flower petals. The insides of it were coated in a substance that Zaron curiously sniffed and widened his eyes at his most amazing discovery yet. “It’s the same scent. This is what I was smelling, but it’s not anything like I expected it to be. I don’t even know what it is.”
Looking even more closely into the sac, Zaron saw at the deepest part in the center that it had a hole that went into the rest of the hose and finding himself compelled to investigate further, Zaron moved his head into the sac. Suddenly, the ringed part of the hose expanded on its own and pushed the sac completely over Zaron’s head. “What in the-” Zaron cried shocked that the hose suddenly came to life. The ringed part then contracted and as it did, Zaron felt a powerful force pull his head even deeper into the hose, causing it to stretch to fit Zaron’s head. Fighting desperately, Zaron tried to pull himself free, but he was stuck good. The accordion thing then expanded and contracted again and Zaron felt his head get pulled in more and each time it did it kept on swallowing up more up till his head was completely pulled in.
“WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS?!?” Zaron gave a muffled cry and tried to get up and run. To his surprise, he was actually able to, telling him that either the hose either had a lot of length to it or it wasn’t attached to something that was affixed to the ground.
“Huh?” yawned someone. “What in the? Hey! What’s the big idea, buddy?”
“Someone else was there?” wondered Zaron, though he couldn’t see who. He stopped running and tried to speak, but he couldn’t say much with how his cheeks were smooshed so tightly to his face. He felt the hose manage to pull another inch of his body into it reaching nearly to his shoulders and out of panic he tried to free himself from it once again.
“Oh, I guess curiosity got the better of you,” he figured as he watched Zaron struggle. “Don’t worry. Happens quite more often than one would expect. Just stay calm and I’ll get you out.”
With nothing else working and no other ideas coming to mind, Zaron chose to trust the stranger and remained still. Everything went quiet and Zaron wondered just what he was doing. The best he could manage with his covered ears was overhearing some breathing. Then the hose started to push him back out and very easily his head was freed. He squinted his eyes as they had to readjust to the light, but as his vision cleared he was able to make out his savoir, a fellow Raichu.
“Heh, guess this was your first time seeing one of these, huh,” the Raichu said very friendly. “Good thing you were able to wake me up so I could get you out of it. Even someone as big as you could have been pulled all the way into it. Oh, hope that you don’t take offense to your weight.”
“I actually like being a fat Raichu,” Zaron informed him pridefully.
“Then you are a tub of lard and might be in the top twenty of overweight Raichus I’ve ever seen.”
“Only in the top twenty?!?” complained Zaron certain he deserved to be in the top five at least when it came to fat Raichus, but rather than continue to steer the conversation in that direction he chose to focus on the real thing he wanted to inquire about. “N-nevermind that for now. Just what is that hose and what is it for?”
“You mean this thing?” asked the Raichu as he picked it up. “This isn’t a hose. Well, I guess it is in a way, but it’s not.”
“That makes no sense,” commented Zaron not liking his back and forth explanation.
“Well, to be as simple as possible,” he explained. “This is my tail.”
“Oh, your- your what? Your tail?” stuttered Zaron as he looked down at the strange hose and followed it from the sac-like tip to the rings, to the black, rubbery main part towards the other end around the Raichu’s waist. He walked around him to make certain and sure enough it connected right on his tailbone. Zaron even gave it few tugs to make certain he wasn’t just messing with him, but he was now certain that this Raichu was telling him the truth. “So, this really is your tail? And you are a Raichu, correct?”
“Since the day I evolved,” he chuckled.
“Then you are a new species of Raichu?” questioned Zaron growing more and more intrigued by the second.
“I guess so,” he admitted. “I was a Raichu with a tail like yours once, but just like with all the others I underwent, ‘the change.’”
“Then you aren’t the only one?” asked Zaron.
“There’s quite a few of us,” he answered and then took a deep breath before shouting. “Hey, guys! Come on out. We got a guest!”
All at once, Raichu suddenly emerged from all over, the trees, bushes and running up from the distance. There was at least a three or four dozen of them, and just like the first one had said there was quite a number of them that made Zaron look slim by comparison with how overweight they were. Zaron made a mental note to increase his butter intake another four sticks to help with his weight issue later and then turned his focus back to what was a more pressing matter. Just like the first Raichu, all these ones had those strange tails too.
“Hey there!” the Raichu greeted him.
“Been awhile since we seen the lightning bolt style tail type. Very retro.”
“Did you come wanting to be one of us too?”
“Heh, you’re a bit chubby. Are you an up-and-coming fatty?”
“Uh, one question at a time,” begged Zaron feeling very crowded by the overly friendly group that surrounded him. “Preferably mine to start. Can you tell me more about just what those tail things are?”
“We aren’t quite sure of an official name for our species of Raichu yet,” the first Raichu admitted. “I guess ‘Duffle-Pouch Raichu’ is the most popular term we have. But if you want more info than that you should see our leader back in our village. He’s the one who gave us our tails and knows the most about them. He could even give you one if you’re interested.”
“I think I might just consider doing that,” Zaron answered.
“So it is ye who has journeyed far and wide to learn of our ways,” spoke the largest Raichu that Zaron had ever seen, one that was practically a Snorlax in size and made him rather envious of his girth. This Raichu, like the others, had the same unusual tail. He appeared to be quite old the way he spoke and with a long white beard that reached down to his belly. “May I ask of your name, child?”
“It’s Zaron,” he answered. “And I suppose I did kind of travel a long way to get here. Maybe not specifically for this, but let’s just go with that. So, can you tell me how you got that tail of yours?”
“Ye wish to learn the secrets of our tails,” he spoke in a sage-like voice. “Do not be alarmed that I know this. I am long-lived and very knowledgable about the world.”
“I just told you the reason I came here,” argued Zaron with some agitation in his voice. “Now quit messing around and tell me what I want to know.”
“All answers will be revealed in time for those that know how to wait and to listen,” he continued ignoring Zaron’s complaints angering him further.
Taking out his phone, Zaron checked it and grumbled at the words, “NO SERVICE” where the bars normally were. “What I wouldn’t give for a cell signal. I could just Xatu all the info I need in seconds.”
Zaron tugged at his multiple chins and sighed. “He looked around the village of Duffle-Pouch Raichu and saw them all going about their day. Some were stuffing fruit or berries into their tails for storage while others were taking some of the food they had stored earlier out of their tails to eat. Zaron saw some of them using their tails for other things as well like as a vacuum suck up a bunch of fallen leaves and then blast them onto a pile and another that was using it like an airgun to fire an assortment of objects as far and fast as he could. There was even a group of Raichu that were having fun with their tails filled up with water and using them as super soakers to get one another wet.
Continuing to watch, feeling rather amused, Zaron wiggled his rump forward a bit and felt something beneath his right cheek. Reaching under to investigate, he discovered a Dusk Stone like it was just an ordinary rock. “That’s a lucky find,” he said to himself before his eyes caught sight of another one not too far away from where he sat and then another one immediately after. Growing more curious, Zaron got up and searched around in the grass around the area and just as he expected he found quite a number of Dusk Stones. He even saw some partially buried in the ground and some even floating in the water of a nearby lake. “So many Dusk stones,” noted Zaron. “These things don’t normally have any kind of effect on a Raichu, but they do give off a strange radiation like the kind a Thunderstone does to evolve a Pikachu into a Raichu. Could being in close proximity to so many Dusk Stones have some sort of effect due to lengthy exposure. And considering Dusk Stones are used in evolving Ghost and Dark Type Pokemon could that mean these Raichu are also Dark Types because they don’t seem very ghostly to me.”
“Oh, chu of great patience,” the leader Raichu said as he stroked his long beard. “Ye will now be rewarded with the answers that you seek. Due to the unusual nature of this land it has allowed us all the transform into these new type of Raichu. It has also given us Dark Type as our Sub Type.”
“All of that is just stuff I concluded on my own, protested Zaron. “Tell me more about what it is and how I can become one too.”
The elder Raichu’s lips curled to a smile and he fiddled with the tiny spectacles over his nose. “Very well,” he told Zaron giving his nerves a big sigh of relief. “For starters, the change we Duffle-Pouch Raichu go through is more than just merely a change in our tails. We also gain something like a second stomach in our bodies though one meant only for storage as it does not allow us to do more than hold things within our bodies.”
“That makes sense,” commented Zaron recalling the Raichu he observed. “They were able to gather a lot of things into their tails including food, but they were just storing the food in there for later.”
“The way our tails are able to pull and push things is connected with our breathing,” he continued drawing a crude picture of a Raichu in the dirt with a stick.
“Breathing?” pondered Zaron curiously as he tried to make out what it was that the Raichu was drawing. “Is that supposed to be a Raichu… uh breathing?”
“Yes it is, inquiring one,” he said calmly. “Why do you ask?”
“He looks more like he is going to throw up,” mentioned Zaron bluntly. “Uh, no offense.”
“Uh, n-none taken,” he replied a hint of agitation on his voice for the criticism. “While inhaling a Duffle-Pouch Raichu will cause their tail to suck in anything nearby. When exhaling they will blow out through their tail as well. It might seem strange, but it becomes like second nature very quickly. This part that is like an accordion is also activated making it close and open to help the object in question make its way through the tail. As for the pouch inside your body, we can roughly estimate it is likely about the size of your regular stomach.”
“That’s good,” chuckled Zaron. “It means mine will be huge. Perfect for capturing Pikachu.”
“What was that?” asked the leader Raichu, his ears twitching.
“Uh, I was wondering if the tails were meant to capture things,” he said trying to hide his true intentions. “I remember I was attracted by a very sweet smell coming from another Raichu’s tail end and nearly got sucked into it.”
“It might very well be,” admitted the elder. “But we don’t see much of a need to capture prey when we have such an abundance of food around here as is. The last thing to note is the flexibility of the tail. They seem to be made very stretchy like rubber compared to the rest of our bodies so even if we were to suck something into our tail that should be too large to fit, we can still manage to pull it into our Duffle-Pouch. And that is all we know about them, young one. Would you care to accept the change and become a Duffle-Pouch Raichu like the rest of us?”
“I do,” answered Zaron. “Being a Duffle-Pouch Raichu seems like something that would benefit me greatly. So, what’s the trick?”
“The trick is with the abundance of Dusk Stones that are in this area,” he explained. “The radiation they give normally doesn’t have any effect on us, but living here for an extended period of time and constantly in their presence brings about the change. It’s as simple as that.”
“And how long as we talking?” asked Zaron not desiring to wait around for too long when there were Pikachu so close that were just waiting to be gobbled up.
“It does vary for every Raichu,” he explained. “For a regular Raichu it can take half a year. For one as big as you it might take a full year at least.”
“A full year?!? I don’t have the patience to go without eating any Pikachu for that long!” Zaron wanted to rage in frustration, but kept that internal and spoke with much calmer words. “There isn’t a faster way to do it?”
“There is, but it isn’t a very pleasant way,” he admitted. “It could cut the time down to a fraction of what is needed, but you wouldn’t be interested.”
“Tell me what it is and I’ll tell you if I’m interested or not,” Zaron countered with a determined look on his face.
“The key to the change is the exposure to the Dusk Stones,” he told Zaron while he closed his eyes to imagine it in his head. “Being within close proximity of a number of them in an enclosed space will have a much stronger effect and cut the time down quite a bit. Unfortunately, the only enclosed space we have available that works is within our own stomach pouches. A few of the smaller Raichu here have managed to try this method successfully and changed in a month, but it is hardly a comfortable method to be in such a confined space for so long. The perpetual darkness, the isolation and, of course, the claustrophobia, it’s an experience I shudder just thinking about. Just hearing that, I know you will understand the long method is the right one.” Opening his eyes, he looked before him and saw Zaron wasn’t there. “Good, and for a second I thought he might have considered such a reckless path. But my explanation seems to have made him come to his senses and now he has gone to wait patiently.”
“Outta my way!” barked Zaron as he hastily ran around the village of Raichu with his eyes fixated on the ground. The other Raichu did their best to keep their distance, not wishing to collide with him as he scurried wildly around. Whenever he spotted a Dusk Stone he scooped it up and added it to the sizeable collection he had in his arms. The Elder Raichu watched him run around every inch of the village, amazed that a Raichu as big and fat as him could move so quickly. He was even bold enough to leap into the water to gather every Dusk Stone he could reach in there too.
“Seems my talk didn’t have quite the impact I had expected,” admitted the Elder Raichu as he watched Zaron work till he was standing before him once more gasping from all the hard work he just did.
“It got me to do something as physical as that,” admitted Zaron. “Now get to work and fill the Duffle-Pouch of yours with these Dusk Stones and me so I can change. I figure that if I have my weight in Dusk Stones in there the transformation shouldn’t require more than a few days, a week at most.”
“I said you needed to be in a Raichu’s Duffle-Pouch, but I never said it had to be mine,” he argued.
“I’m going to need all the space to fit as many Dusk Stones I can and you are the biggest Raichu I’ve ever seen so you are doing it,” ordered Zaron.
“Now see here, young one,” growled the Elder Raichu looking at Zaron angrily. “I will not allow this power we possess to be given to one who wishes to use it for their own selfish gains. Seeing your actions I believe that you want this power for just that. I will not allow you to-” he began saying before Zaron tuned him out and began trying to stuff the Dusk Stones into his tail. “You can’t force it to work no matter how much you try.”
“Oh, yeah,” recalled Zaron as he tugged on the Leader Raichu’s tail and forced him onto his back. “You said the key was in breathing. Inhaling makes your tail suck.”
Taking in a deep breath, Zaron forcefully blew air into the elder’s like he was giving him CPR. The first few breaths didn’t seem to have much effect, but then to Zaron’s delight, he saw the elder’s tail began sucking up the nearby Dusk Stones. Grinning devilishly, Zaron kept it up, running back and forth between the leader’s head and tail to force every last Dusk Stone into his pouch.
“So far so good,” cackled Zaron. “Just need to get myself in there.”
“I will expel you the second you try,” snapped the Elder Raichu. “I don’t know what you intend to do with this power, but I will not aid in it.”
“I’ll be forward with you then,” Zaron said like they were playing a game of poker and he had a royal flush that he wasn’t afraid to let the whole table see. I keep my great figure by eating Pikachu. I’ve eaten countless Pikachu already and this tail power of yours will help me vore even more of them. Now, you can help me or I might just unleash my wrath on this village of yours. It’s a pretty peaceful place, but don’t think it is beyond my ability to annihilate. I might even try voring a few of the Raichu here to see how they compare to Pikachu. Though, if you give me the power I won’t have a reason to remain here and I will leave the village in one piece. How’s that sound? Oh, and this deal expires in ten seconds so you’d best decide quick. I already used up all my patience earlier.”
The Elder Raichu stared at Zaron with eyes full of fear. He watched the villainous rodent’s cheeks spark and he could tell that he was willing to do anything to get what he desired and be as ruthless as need be. “Even if I were to refuse you’d still be able to gain the power by simply being here,” he spoke in a defeated tone. “And even without the power you’d still cause trouble to others. In the end, the best I can do is to protect this village. So I will grant you the power you crave so vilely.”
“That’s what I like to hear,” cackled Zaron. “Others caving to my will. Now get up and let’s get this change thing over with. I’ve got a group of Pikachu to get back at for refusing to be my meals.”
Doing his best to ignore Zaron’s words, the Elder Raichu maneuvered his tail and began to breath carefully to start sucking the overweight Raichu into his tail. Compared to the last time this happened, Zaron was much calmer and the process went much quicker as Zaron’s whole body was pulled in within seconds and became a big bulge in his tail as he was pulled through the length of it and then vanished upon reaching the elder’s tailbone and going inside to his pouch.
Inside it was nothing but darkness for Zaron. Even giving his eyes time to adjust he could barely make out his own paw in front of his face. He could feel the dozens upon dozens of Dusk Stones around here making it even more cramped in there than he expected it to be, but he ignored that as he tried to relax and close his eyes.
“A few days,” he yawned to himself as he tried to drift off to sleep. “A few days and the power I crave will be mine.”
Day by day passed and Zaron, cut off from the world outside was unaware of this. It could have been days or hours, but he lacked any means to tell. He drifted into sleep so often he became disconnected to anything beyond his perpetually dark home. The only noises to accompany him were the sounds of the Elder Raichu’s stomach as it gurgled for food or was being filled with something and his ever present heartbeat.
Without any way to see his tail, Zaron was unsure if anything was even happening to him. He did feel constantly tired like his body was burning through tons of energy to perform the change, but he debated if that was what was happening or if it was all in his mind. The one thing he was certain of was that he was starving. He hadn’t eaten anything before coming into the Duffle-Pouch and the Elder Raichu wasn’t likely to give him much more aid even if he did have space to in his pouch to give him some food.
“Been in here… for so long,” groaned Zaron feeling intense levels of boredom, hunger, and fatigue. “How much longer will this take? Is this even really working? Ugh, if I don’t get something to eat soon I’m gonna-” Zaron suddenly paused from speaking as he felt a warmth spread over his body and then next thing he realized the inside of the pouch was becoming illuminated. The light was coming from him! Zaron was finally doing it! He was changing!
“Whoa!” wondered the Elder Raichu as he rubbed his belly. “Was that indigestion?” He noticed a faint light leaking out from the end of his tail. “No. It’s happening. He’s changing, but to do so in only a week’s time and at his size. He is truly remarkable and that worries me all the more.”
Focusing on his breathing, the Leader Raichu took long exhales and caused his tail to blow out the contents inside his belly pouch. The countless Dusk Stones that were in his body came out first, their color gone now as their energy was used up and they came nothing more than ordinary stones. After that, Zaron began to come out even easier than when he want in. As the elder finally got him to the base of his tail he came out with his whole body glowing bright white.
“He did it,” the other Raichu gasped after coming over to see what was going on. “He’s become one of us hasn’t he, elder.”
“He has indeed,” he nodded his tone glum but the others didn’t notice.
As the light faded, Zaron came back to his senses and looked his body over, in particular, his tail. His eyes lit up as he saw his tail was indeed that of a Duffle-Pouch Raichu’s. Holding it in his paws, he felt it to make sure it was the real deal. After a minute he was satisfied and even moreso that he could feel it was his own tail he was touching.
“It’s amazing,” he declared. “This worked just as I had hoped it would. It’s just that…”
“Is something the matter?” wondered one of the Raichu. “Is the tail not everything you hoped for?”
“Oh, it definitely is,” acknowledged Zaron as he looked down and watched as he wiggled his toes. “But what happened to my gut? I’ve gotten so skinny I can see these weird growths on my legs. Oh, wait, they’re called, ‘feet,’ right? I know I didn’t eat the whole time during the transformation, but I doubt I would eat through that much of my own fat in only… uh, how long was I in there for?”
“Amazingly, only a week,” the elder answered. “No other Raichu here has changed that quickly. It forced your body to burn through your energy reserves quicker hence the weight loss.”
“Yeah, a week should not have done this much damage to my body normally,” complained Zaron.
“It is a bit of a shame, but you still got your tail and in record time,” the Raichu reminded him.
“Well, that is the limits of my patience,” admitted Zaron. “And save for all the weight I gotta put back on I’d say that tradeoff looks like it was worth it.”
“Well, give your tail a try,” the Raichu encouraged. “The feeling is like getting a shiny, new toy.”
“Yeah,” nodded Zaron. “That’s exactly how I feel. Now what to try for first.” Rubbing what remained of his multi chin, Zaron scanned the area and a shiny, red apple caught his eye on a distant tree. “That looks good to me.”
The other Raichu watched as Zaron took aim with his tail at the fruit and started to take in breaths. “That’s too hard,” they told him.
“You just got your tail. It takes a bit to get used to it.”
“Try sucking up something closer. You’ll never reach something that far away.”
Despite their words, Zaron’s eyes never strayed from the apple. He just kept taking in small breaths as he listened to his stomach rumble from going without food for so long. “This is why I wanted this power,” he thought to himself. “It was all for this.”
“He’s really determined on getting that apple,” one of the Raichu stated.
“None of us would be able to get it. How does he think he can when he’s never done this before?”
Their doubting continued, but in an instant all of them were silenced as Zaron’s tail sucked with such incredible power. It reached all the way to the tree and pulled on the apple with enough force that the stem snapped off of the branch and pulled the apple towards him. It flew into his tail and got sucked all the way into the pouch inside his belly.
There was an extended silence from all the other Raichu, but when they finally recovered from what they saw they all started to applaud and praise him. “Did you see that?”
“Yeah, we were all watching, but I know what you mean.”
“He’s a natural. No, more like a genius with his tail.”
“Leader, isn’t this amazing?”
“It… it certainly is,” the elder responded sounding concerned that Zaron was so talented using his tail. He grew to like it even less as he watched Zaron exhale and cause the apple to pop out of his tail and into his paws. He then took a big bite out of it and grinned. Just looking at his expression it was the sweetest apple he had ever tasted in his life.
“Thanks for the tail everyone,” said Zaron as he began taking his leave. “Sorry if I gotta leave so soon, but I have some unfinished business to take care of.”
“Oh, you can’t stay longer?” they asked unaware of his true nature.
“Can’t you show us that talented tail of yours some more. That was so cool!”
“At least stay for some lunch,” they offered attempting to convince Zaron to stay.
“I would love to, but what I gotta do has been put off for way too long. But I promise I’ll put this tail of mine to good use. You can count on that.”
Leaving the village of Duffle-Pouch Raichu shortly after saying his goodbyes to everyone, Zaron made his way back to the cave of Pikachu, trying out his tail the whole way there. Whenever he saw a berry or fruit in a tree or anything else that caught his eye he tried using his tail and was excited every time he sucked something into it and couldn’t help but grin deviously. “This is definitely going to come in handy,” he said to himself already imagining how handy his improved appendage was going to be for voring Pikachus and putting on weight. “But I might have left too soon. I never did get much of an explanation about the nice smell coming from the tail.” Bringing the end of his tail to his nose, Zaron sniffed it curiously. “I do smell something, but it doesn’t it make me wanna follow it like that other smell did. Is it because it’s my own?”
Pondering this, Zaron soon reached the cave and listened quietly for the noises inside and could hear the unmistakable sounds of karaoke singing by a duo of Pikachu. “Good,” he said eagerly. “A couple are in there at least and likely so are the rest of them. Well, let’s give this a try and see if it works like I hope it will.”
Sitting down in front of the cave, Zaron waited and breathed letting his tail blow out gently as he attempted to try and fill the cave with the scent of his tail. Not sure what to expect, he kept at it attempting to ignore his hungry belly that he had only managed to faintly satisfy with food on the walk over. Then a Pikachu emerged from the cave, followed by another and another till every last Pikachu was out and Zaron recognized many, including the messy-furred one, the one with ribbons on her ears, the glasses-wearing one, and the one with the baseball cap. There were even more too which further pleased Zaron.
“Wh-what’s that smell?” the messy-furred Pikachu asked. His face and all the others were blushing brightly as they looked around and sniffed the air. They looked at Zaron unable to realize who he was after the changes he had gone through in becoming a Duffle-Pouch Raichu.
“Smell?” asked Zaron innocently. “I’m not sure, but maybe it’s coming from this.” Showing them his tail he let out some more of the arousing aroma and immediately it attracted the group of Pikachus towards it. With hearts in their eyes they struggled to get as close as they could pushing and shoving at one another. Zaron permitted them to fight for a bit, enjoying seeing how well he was able to control them. Then yanking his tail up, he pulled them off of it and helped them return to their senses. “No, fellas, you don’t need to fight over it. You can all share it. In fact, it’s even better on the inside. So, who wants to be the first one in?” He pointed the end of his tail pouch at them.
“G-go into your tail?” the bespectacled Pikachu asked and the rest looked very unsure about that as well.
“There’s plenty of room in there,” he assured them. “And much better than that dingy cave you were in.” He let the aroma from his tail waft in the air again and mixed with his words to hypnotise the Pikachu as hearts reappeared in their eyes and the Pikachu lined up in front of Zaron’s tail. “Oh, and don’t forget to wipe your feet first before going in,” he added and to his even greater delight they obeyed him and did just that.
The glasses-wearing Pikachu then approached the end of Zaron’s tail and moved his head towards it. With a little breathing, Zaron began to suck him into his tail, a small bulge in it signifying his location as he went down the length and vanished after passing through the base of his tail and into Zaron’s stomach pouch. Then the messy-furred Pikachu was next and one after another all the Pikachu went into Zaron’s tail till the devious Raichu was all alone once more.
“Heheheh,” he cackled villainously. “It worked! And it was even better than I had hoped for.” In his excitement, his regular stomach gurgled growing impatient for its long overdue Pikachu meal. “Heheh, don’t worry. Plenty of Pikachu coming right up.”
Breathing once more, this time Zaron made one of the Pikachu come out of his tail as he had the end of his tail held in place against his maw forcing the Pikachu to end up in his mouth seconds before he swallowed him down and he landed with a plop in his stomach with ease. Then next one soon made its way through his tail like the first and soon met the same fate. Zaron rubbed his gut with his free paw feeling the most delight he had in ages. He obtained even greater power than he had before, he was finally getting to eat his fill of Pikachu, and his quest to devour all the Pikachu in the world was now not only renewed, but his desire for it was stronger than ever.
