Aeroh took a deep breath, perching himself on the crystal as it was now his turn to tell a tale by the camp fire. It was his chance not only to impress his friends but his Aunties, as he called them.
"I am going to tell you the tale of the ghost flytts." he said as he reared back and sat on his hind legs and tail, capturing the warm glow and deep shadows on his lighter colored scales and feathers as to look more imposing.
As he wove the story Iiotian and Saiya couldn't help but smile as they saw Ripha intertwining her tail with Cain's.
One of my entries for Kilara's contest on DA. Avians concept belong to her
Originally I wanted to draw a picture of the trio in human form and painting avian puppets of other characters, but somehow the concept shifted into storytelling contest by a camp fire, with Iiotian and Saiya (Aeroh's guardians) supervising ^^;
Although I tried to give my best I'm not completely happy with this
First of all is the avians themselves. Iiotian's chin is too short, Saiya's eyebrow scales look off and Aeroh looks a lot older than Ripha and Cain (actually I don't the age difference between them, but still). Also his hands turned out a bit weird
Other thing that was really annoying was their faces. Unlike the rest of their body there's little to no reference on how the scales in their faces are displayed (I know they have them), which made understanding the volumetric of the shapes tricky
The lighting is another thing I'm really displeased at. I don't have much experience when it comes to night scenes, I admit that, but I didn't want the shadows to eat most of the details (reason why I tried to add a 2nd light source from the full moon)
I especially dislike at the crystals. I know yellow light reflected by blue glass looks weird, but even then I don't like how it turned out DX

No matter how many errors you may see here, this has got to be one of my most favorite pictures. X3
I'm a huge dragon fanatic, and when I stumbled upon this I nearly fell out of my chair!
I still come by to look at it every so often, especially when I need a boost to get back to my art.
Amazing work. Thank you!
