I came up with this idea while I waiting for a meeting and drew the rough version on my notebook
Ended up researching for actual references on the horse evolution, adapting it to the hexapod locomotion and later to the centaur evolution
It was a fun exercise and a good practice for my artbook concept, but I can't say I'm completely pleased with it
The references I've found weren't very good ones and it feels like some of the species I've used weren't the right ones
If you know of good sites or well written (and illustrated) books on the tree of life please let me know. The information I have access to is broken in many places DX

Aw. :3 I don't know the specific evolution lines for anything... was only taught the basic stuff on the first reptile, bird, and mammal. >.O Fun zoology course... hated the tests.
The upright one with small tusks definitely looks like the first mammal. : D ... as depicted in my studies. >.<
