As you walked further down the street to the left of where we stood the intensity of the rainbows colors got much brighter.

Can't really help the power lines. It was in the down town region of the city where all of the diners/bistro/coffee houses were. Normally when I go through that section of the city it's always to one specific spot and I'm seeing it throught my car windows. So you don't think much of it. But when I was on the side walks you see it differently.
As for the power lines. I find it incredibly funny how we have advanced power sources. Yet we rely on getting it to locations the way they did during cowboy days. You'd think they'd run the line under ground by now.

Sorry, I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at with that first paragraph. ^^; I'll facepalm if you explain it, i'm sure. To me, photography's about capturing the feeling of a moment, and turning just a picture into a mood. :) This picture kind of makes me a bit nostalgic, since scenes like this, minus the rainbow's brilliance, were somewhat similar when I lived in Florida for a while. At the same time, the rainbow's brilliance makes me feel a bit like I'm missing something great back there.
Or I could just be insane, which is probable as well.
You know, that's a good point, the power gets knocked out all too often due to winds and such. Burying them's the best option that I can think of, other than each home having it's own power generator. But that's a thing way off in the future. maybe.
