Corbyn has always been a curious bird, perhaps a bit too curious for his own good. That, matched with his confidence, often took him to places most people would shy away from. So, upon seeing a great unexplored forest he thought of nothing better than to investigate. Who knows what lurks between those trees? Treasure, perhaps? Or on the simpler side, perhaps just a pretty, undiscovered flower. What would he name it? Well, he'd need to find it first. With that in mind, he was determined to check out what this great mass of plants had in store for him.
Upon initial inspection a little ways in, the forest didn't seem too much different to what he's seen before. Birds, frogs, the odd snake and the usual array of large and small trees, with the colour green patterned everywhere in different shapes and shades. Unsatisfied and a little disappointed thus far, his curiosity led him to go deeper into the woods, trying not to make his journey a waste.
Not before long, he thought he spotted something of value. Something shiny, glinting sunlight back at him. As he approached it, the faint rustling of bushes caught his ear and he turned his head. Something was here... but what he didn't know was what. However, he was quick to dismiss it as little more than a deer, perhaps - he's spotted one already a little while back so it's a valid theory in his mind. His corvid blood driving him towards the shiny object, unable to resist what valuable gemstone or metal he might have uncovered.
As he got closer to the shiny object, he could start to make out the traces of a gemstone, perhaps a large ruby. His amethyst-coloured eyes lit up in glee, mind full of wonder of the value such a thing would hold. But his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of rustling once again, louder than before. His confidence wavered for just a moment, wondering what that was, if not a deer. Against his better judgement, his focus was on the gemstone. If he could just get that and get out, he wouldn't need to worry.
He made a dash for it, an audible rustling echoing as he passed through plants and frightening smaller creatures away, heading towards the shining light. He came to a clearing his suspicions were confirmed, what sat in front of him was a great ruby, the sunlight shining through it's red interior, easily worth thousands.
He stared at it in amazement for a moment, either wondering if his eyes were playing tricks on him, or just that such a thing could even exist. As he began stepping forward to collect his prize, the sound of hissing filled his ears coming from behind him. Louder than he'd ever heard before. He turned his head, and caught a quick glimpse of a large snake-like female figure hissing at his presence. The two locked eyes, and that was the last thing he remembered.
He found himself waking up back outside of the forest, not able to remember much about what had just transpired. Scratching his head as he climbed up off the ground to his feet, he felt... oddly relaxed. He looked towards the forest once more, deciding for once to perhaps not venture into it and carry on his way. After all, who knows what lurks between those trees?
