I was like that myself the first time round......but the most important thing to do is just relax and introduce yourself to people, say that you're new.

Hehe, you should go, i knew one fur on my first meet, i was all shy until the fur walk, as soon as they don the suits, just run up to one and hug them, they love it :3

Oh I'm hellish shy too! but if anyone's sitting by themselves then it's never normally too long until someone will go over and say hi, then introduce you to their friends and such - If I can talk to a few total strangers, anyone can, believe me - I've got a stammer and everything! >_<
