So, apparently step one is to sketch it out. I don't have fancy stuff like a tablet or anything, so leave it up to me to draw it on paper, and without a scanner that means I took a picture of it with my laptop's webcam. (I cropped myself out of the photo...). Coming up is the digitalized line-art and the digitalized coloring.

So, tips and opinions on how I'm doing. Keep in mind I just started practicing drawing after reading a few how-tos a few days ago. All this practice for drawing to get ready to put them in Ibbit's nursery when we have her room.
