Leandre's research notes #DND-001:
"Whilst in our world the art of spellcasting is mostly unknown of and widely regarded as a myth, in various fantasy realms it is much more commonplace. One way to classify these magic users is by looking at where their magic is comming from and by which method they attained it. Case in point, the arcane teachings of the high order of the wizards of the coast suggests the following classifications:
A sorcerer is a magic-user who has an instinctive access to their magic and have most commonly inherited their power from a powerful ancestor somewhere in their boodline, like a dragon. A Warlock has gained their powers through a bargain with some kind of powerful patron, like a demon or fairy-queen. Druids draw their powers from nature itself, while Clerics are able to channel the power of their god into magic spells as a reward for their devoted service to said god. Lastly, a Wizard is someone who has studied the framework of existance and understood how they need to manipulate it in order to calculate their spells.
I wish I could be a wizard sometimes! Math and physics are awesome enough as is, but just imagine you could use them to math up a flame out of nowhere. You could literally calculate your coffee till it's hot! I so wanna be a wizard! But I guess that's not how our world is working. Lizanne and her mentor on the other hand are fortunate enough to be born in some kind of fantasy-realm, wehere magic opperates as described above. We can see Lizanne is currently trying to learn the "Burning Hands" spell, a basic spell that most aspiring wizards pick up early during their training. Speaking of training, I think she might need a little bit more of that..."

It is kind of a weird idea, isn't it? I don't really get why you actually wanna do that on purpose either. I guess it's just an established tradition at this point and you aren't really allowed to question it. Wizards do tend to have rather stiff and rigid hierarchies led by older semesters.
Very true, ill stick to my "renegade" exploration of the arcane arts off on my own thank you very much. Might end up taking longer but at least i don't have to intentionally injure myself for the glory of the archmage or whatnot. Id much rather harm myself unintentionally while trying to open a planar portal to the mini-mart, only to instead open an inter-dimensional portal to a...well....not sure what it is, but im sure ill figure it out!
Huh? Where did you hear that from? If anything, we are cold-resistant, and even that's not 100%. I guess our thick fur insulates us against heat rather well too, but it's also quick to light up, so actual flames are a pretty serious matter for us.
So is Burnious Myhandious a common prank among students? Kind of makes me glad I can't do magic...

I dunno, I'm no magic user. Well, maybe other variants of me might be... Parallel universes for the win. Either way, it sure sounds like it should be a prank spell to me... Hopefully to others too. >_>;
As for snow leopards and flames, more of an in joke, my bad. Though I know a few who're not bothered by it: (All PG too!) http://www.furaffinity.net/view/219250/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13131135/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23343997/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16666959/
I guess she needs waaaaay more practice, but I'm sure she'll get there! Might look like a black panther by the end of it though. I wonder if that's where black panther's come from...
