I disagree. With a 130 attack stat, STAB Flare Blitz, and access to Iron Tail and Superpower through tutor, Flareon can wreck faces. Especially if you boost its attack further with Guts. Sure, it will go down to recoil and toxic orb, but it's gonna take at least one poke down with it.
Yes, that is true. But being ABLE to work doesn't make something good. In doubles, there are much better options. In singles, Flareon's slow speed and bad defence means not only does it take a crap ton of self damage from flare blitz, its only real good synergy move, but it also gets outsped by most things. Really, as a sweeper, you can find better pokemon, and flareon is by no ways good in either utility or stalling either, so it finds itself very.. unable to find a good spot in a team.
Pride may have the advantage now, but when Sam gets an additional water typing (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/21457662/), then we've got a different story.
I love how in the character bio in the beginning of the comic, it says that Pride isn't particularly good at anything.
Of course she isn't good at anything. She's THE BEST at EVERYTHING. :3
