The Hands of Misfortune--or as this sector is known, the Mains de Malheur, is an illicit group of spies and assassin types, who specialize in making their work look like tragic and ironic accidents. They're little known, but sometimes you may catch a whisper of them if you listen closely enough to whispers of the highborn and low. The watchwords for this branch are "Courage dans deux mains." Courage in two hands, approximately. A common enough phrase, but it means a lot if you say it to the right people. This group essentially functions as cogs of revenge: they take the work from clients who want to enact justice on targets that are out of their personal reach. Their services are expensive but they do accept bargaining, often in the form of information, service, or goods valuable to their cause. No matter what, the costs are not cheap, and the few who are accepted as dedicated agents and not just informers are quite good at what they do, if you take my meaning.

Left to right: Nullité (the leader), Humilité (an interrogator), Serenité (a healer), Frugalité (an accountant and donor), and Volatilité (chemist). These are all codenames of course... But you get the picture.
