Endless Realms bestiary - Brownie
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
Something Endless Realms doesn't quite have is the stereotypical fantasy goblin - instead, the art director wanted to draw from real world mythology for their own goblins, bocans, a corrupted fey from English lore once known as a brownie: they are helpful creatures happy to exchange tasks and services (such as cleaning and other housework) for offerings of food, but should you mistreat or starve your brownies, they may leave your home forever, never to return... or you may end up with bocans instead!

Haha, yeah, no kidding. Everyone could use a team of brownies :b My favourite appearance of them is in a book series I read where instead of preferring honey (the classic favourite) the guy leaves out pizza for them and the fey end up nuts for it and start referring to him as the Pizza Lord XD
Oh that is just too funny!
My favorites were the Brownies in the movie 'Willow' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willow_(film)
it's one of the best films ever!

So if you don't mind intertaining a random thought; if you had a bag of holding with a small doll house like structure in it could you have these beings be like a flee circus. Where you take them from town to town, and show them off doing different tasks. Of course feeding them and taking care of them. How big would you say these things are?
Also, never make new clothes for a brownie, pay them with money, or thank them. If you make clothes for them, they consider it an insult. And if you pay them or thank them, they consider that to mean their job there is done, and they'll leave.
Least, that's the way MY brownies work.

This concept has always fascinated me, because either the Brownie has magical powers that help them do chores more efficiently than you and therefore doesn't need you to give them food and lodging, or they can only do things that a small person could do, in which case it makes sense that they would rely on the Big People to give them stuff.
...I still want one, though.
Give him a cute little dollhouse and feed him like a tiny kitten...
