Now I think of a lot of animals that are traditionally considered "ugly" (hyenas, snakes, bats, etc.) as having a certain amount of natural beauty to them.

Somewhere someone is fapping to this. You can't honestly expect anything to be "too ugly/disgusting for furries" :[ There are people with a slime fetish, afterall. Hagfish would definitely fit into that category. Fffffffff.

Ewomg I saw someone pick up one of those things on some animal TV show and...wow, it exploded in slime. That was definitely one of the strangest things I've ever seen.
EVERYONE SHOULD MAKE A HAGFISH FURRIE cause even though them be slimy mo-fos, that'd be interesting to see, 'specially 'serious' ones.
