There's something just breathtaking about so much of the Mojave. And even for all it's mass, complexity, and allure, the Grand Canyon is somehow surpassed by the Painted Desert.

Even if you don't believe in God: You'd have to admit he'd think it his masterpiece. Rolling slopes turning into jagged edged cliffs and then bare valleys. All of it revealed to you, in bands of Red & Pink & Tan & Purple & Brown. Barely is it even shrouded in Red Dust.


And for it's lighting, there is the Arizona Sunrise, with it's reds and oranges and blues and purples and pinks spilling out over you just as a bold, brilliant orb starts to rise from beyond the mountainside.

It's little works of art like the Painted Desert that really have to make you think if someone's up there.
