Keeping the finest exhibit for last
Representing the TEE red and cream liveried Rhiengold train from Koln depot was locomotive 103 113 along with one of the coaches.
Built in the early 1970s for the planned Trans Europe Express network the design of the DB 103 class locomotive looks just as impressive and stylish today as it did 50 years ago. 103 113 is fully operational and was used to haul the heritage exhibits from the Koln area to and from Brohl, beeing observed returning north on the evening of the 27th hauling its accompanying coach and one of the diesel locomotives.
In addition to several preserved class 103 locomotives some remain in regular service.
