8.5" x 11". ink, markers. pencil. 2001.
I haven't uploaded any of the Ironclaw/Jadeclaw work I did because it's a lot and I need to get it organized first. This one sssorta slips by because it wasn't actually used. It was the first image I made for rafferty after he asked me to do some illustrations for this vaguely asian themed fantasy rpg thing he was putting together.
He told me that he wanted images of the traditional Chinese zodiac, and that he would get back to me later with a better list of pictures. I immediately ran off and made this image, which wasn't so useful :P
As it turns out, there was much more plot and so on that needed to be considered. The project was a lot of fun for me and a wonderful experience with world-building through character design.
I did more thinking and research for the actual images than this piece, however this one did set the visual tone for the rest of the illustrations, and I still like it even though it didn't go anywhere.
The rooster's colors are based of the first rooster that came to mind, namely Cornelius, the Kellogg's cereal mascot :D
