A recent commission. This was a bit of a challenge, because I can't really draw cars or planes, but I was provided with the proper refs to pull it off. (I can't draw a car from scratch, but i can copy a photo just fine!) The setting is supposed to be the 1960's, hence the clothing. In the days before heavy airport security, of course! Done with pen & ink and watercolor. Characters c.

Unfortunately I can't really draw mechanical things from scratch-- I was copying a photo (for both the car and plane) provided by the person who commissioned the pic. However, the actual composition of the painting, plus the characters and most of the background, was all drawn from scratch.
G'day, just found this pic after a friend referred me to it... I had been doing some volunteer work on electricals a Connie and a Catalina here in Aus and when I showed her some pics of Connie she was reminded of this image.... this artwork had made that much of an impression on someone who has no interest in aircraft.
