This is just boring writing realting trees and their symbolism to my characters, no biggie.
Coonishi - The Hazel
This is the tree that represents my month of birth. It symbolizes wisdom, intelligence, and poetic inspiration. A person that's guilty is unable to hide themselves from a forked Hazel-stick. It's also said that those that sleep under the tree are bound to have vivid dreams. However, the tree doesn't stand out in beauty or size.
This symbolism fits in with the character and tree in the Circle stories I created - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1721985/
Nishidor - The Great Diku Tree
This is the parody figure of The Great Deku Tree from Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It serves as the father-figure for Nishidor, and in the game his purpose is to protect the spirits of the forest. He was killed accidentally, and relates to The Hazel in part. Hazel people have the soul of a pioneer, but waste too much energy on competitive thoughts and in fighting abuses instead of letting their own gifts and skills ripen. The Great Diku Tree and its constant falling leaves serve as a reminder of failure, or struggles with important life figures, in that same way.
This symbolism fits in with the character and tree in the Zelda parody I created - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2299396/
Kamui - Forked Tree
When this forked tree is crossed, the person who passes it crosses a dividing line and is separated into different parts of their own self. In Zelda, it was Link and his dark side. Nishidor's dark side is represented by Kamui, whose names can mean either "one who represents the majesty of the Gods" or "one who hunts the majesty of the Gods." He plays a related role in my Circle stories - splitting himself into Coonishi and Nishidor after failing to find the majesty of the Gods.
And that's about it. It's just a little collection of what I found, either in research, other stories, or my own work.

What an intriguing piece of work, Oxnard. The amount of depth you put into both the picture and description is most impressive and a true delight to both view and read.
I had no idea that trees were also used as markers for one's month of birth like gem stones. I shall have to look in to what mine would be to see if it is an adequate description like I feel yours is. You most certainly are wise and intelligent. Even if I didn't have your art to go by, the way you write and partake in discussions gives off an aura of intellect that is hard to come by. Especially on places like this.
Another aspect I enjoyed about this work is the amount of depth you covered with respect to the mysterious Kamui. I knew he was a questing soul and that he was a product of Nishidor and Coonishi, but reading about the nuances of Coonishi and Nishidor brings his character into a new light. If I dare say, he is like the character that is the result of the spirits of Coonishi and Nishidor harmonizing and merging together towards a common goal.
If I dare make an example, have you by chance ever heard of, or seen, the anime series Samurai Champloo? The characters Moogan and Gene (Jin?) are a good example of what I'm trying to say. They are both Samurai who have their own goals, demons, and wander Japan solo. They sort of get along during the show, but not in a tight, friend like way. However, due to a girl, Foo, they travel and work together toward helping her achieve her goal. Then, at the end, they part ways having never truly bonded as friends, but achieving the goal they were in-debted and determined to achieve. They gain a new respect for each other, but not much beyond that.
Kamui is also intriguing in that his name symbolizes two things. The side you mention here goes back to his quest for NGG back in the Circle Saga if I am not mistaken. That said, it is interesting to consider if Kamui is actually formed by Coonishi and Nishidor, or if Nishidor and Coonishi are actually the broken pieces of Kamui. If, by chance, Nishidor and Coonishi are fragments of Kamui then it would be their destiny to, one day, merge together again and remain that way upon having achieved the enlightenment in which brought them to break apart in the first place. Should this happen, it would be interesting to see if the Enlightened Kamui would retain the appearance seen here.
So much insight, so much symbolism, so many inspirational interpreations. I love it! :)

Hehe, thanks! :3 Writing is lots of fun, and I'm glad I could pair it with art.
I guess I was just thinking of how these trees fit into my stories, and then I wasn't sure what type of tree I used in Circles, so I read up about all sorts of trees! There were some like the Ginko Tree that sounded so neat that I wanted it to be mine, but I figured instead of choosing what I thought was the coolest, I found that there was a zodiacal take on them, and when I read up on mine I was happy. :3 ...But then other sites say it should be Holly instead of Hazel, that works too... there are multiple answers for most things, I think, so I don't mind. :D
http://clanofdanu.tripod.com/trees.html This is the site I pulled mine from. The months for this one seem slightly different from others I read, but it was very in-depth so it's what I went by. :3
http://www.grahamphillips.net/News/.....Tree_Signs.htm This one identifies the signs by more specific dates, which I thought was really interesting too. (:
Hopefully you can have fun reading up on yours! I guess it's more often in Japanese stories that they use trees as a pivotal point. In .hack, Inuyasha, and I'd wanna say even in a Hamtaro episode! But I'm not so sure. Either way, it's just something of my interest. (:
And if lovers always carve their names into trees, they've gotta be something special. :D
Oh! And I loved Samurai Champloo. A friend explained the ending to me but I never got to see it myself. I liked their adventures though, I heard the ending was kind of like that, where not much happens... I'll have to watch for myself too! :3
(: I guess since Kamui is who he is, that's why he's been an inescapable part of both stories, and he'll be there in part for the next adventure as well!
Hehe, I think you've picked up more on my work than anyone else. :D Thank you!

Than-Q for the links! I went through both of them and read through the descriptions for myself, my wife, and her brother who is with us right now. For the most part, I've got to say the descriptions are very spot on. Oopa!
The Japanese are indeed very into nature. It's been awhile since I had my Mythology class, but I believe it is due to their major religions being more matriarchal than patriarchal. The biggest difference, again if I am recalling right, is that partriarchal religions (Like Christianity) believe in man's superiority over nature where matriarchal religions (Like Zen) look for more of a balance where no entity is superior to another.
This in mind, I'd love to offer up another great anime that is big on trees. This being "Tenchi Muyo!" and its subsequent spin-offs "Tenchi Universe" and "Tenchi in Tokyo." There is a lot of tree homage in this series and, on a cool note, the race of humans from across the galaxy (Jurai?) actually have their starships based around their trees with their power being bonded to them.

Ehehe, too cool! :D I'm glad it didn't seem too far off like Zodiacs sometimes can be. :3
Ooh! That makes a lot more sense. (: I didn't really think of it that way but that sounds about right to me! I think it'd be nice to grow up in an environment like that.
Oh, I've heard of that! I was more familiar with all the ladies involved in it than trees.... but I didn't watch much of the anime. It's really cool that there's a deeper level to the content than what little I was able to pick up on, bwuhaha!
