Suckstobe the Nerd Succubust demonstrated she's the best Dungeon Mistress.
The game is "Cellars & Critters", a parody of D&D that I will be using for my webcomics (I'm looking at you, Wilfreda).
Also, I will be the first to admit that I loathe the perspective of the table and the board. Awful. I need to practice that.

Yeah, but it's coming back as World of Warcraft, the Pen&Paper edition.
Every class gets things like once-a-combat buffs, automatic post-combat health recovery, special attacks. It's nothing like the challenging dungeon crawls of yore.
Makes me glad I left AD&D long ago for a better system, a more flexible system, GURPS, by Steve Jackson Games. I looks a little math-heavy to the uninitiated, but all the math during character creation is to make the skill checks and combat rolls quick and easy during play.

And to make it easy to get into the system, SJGames has also put out GURPS Lite, a 32-page condensed version, without the intimidation factor of a big stack of books.

You can also brows the site to look at the worldbooks.
Fun fact, one kid listed GURPS Vikings in the bibliography of his High School report. His teacher called him on it and asked to see the book. After reading the worldbook, the teacher bought a copy for the school library. The books are well-researched, and give the Game Master the option of being historically accurate, or cinematically flamboyant.
