Bio:
Alexandra's story actually begins with her father Anatoly. During the Cold War, Anatoly and other members of his unit were experimented on by the Soviet government, one of their several experiments to unlock genetic powers in their furs to counter the West's near monopoly on supers. Unfortunately for him, though he was a loyal soldier and did everything he could, the experiment seemed to do nothing for him. As payment for his brave volunteering, he was sent with other living failures to patrol Siberia to keep them out of the hands of spies that would try to extract information. Anatoly settled in Irkutsk and spent the 80s with a lovely tigress named Grusha who was related to many of the shamanic tribes of the Siberian. This unique mix of DNA that had been warped by the government with near mystical blood produced an interesting mix in their daughter Alexandra, born just as the USSR was collapsing. She was born pure white with black stripes, much to the confusion of both parents who were the standard orange. Even as time went on, her fur never quite gained its solid orange coloring, which led many to wonder if Grusha had cheated on Anatoly. But he was faithful and stayed on, as Russia was rocked by turmoil.
A new turmoil came when Alexandra neared puberty. Always a tomboy, she grew up alongside her cousins and other boys in the city, a rough and tumble life where she learned much of the brawling she knew today. One day when she was in a particularly rough fight, her fist seemed to sprout pure ice around it and she suckerpunched her opponent, knocking him out. Word spread fast and while Alexandra was never quite outed as some sort of witch, the superstitious nature made her suppress her powers, able to hold it down while she forced herself to stop wrestling.
It was then that she found out another secret that would prove problematic in her homeland: as her hormones began to grow, she found more and more that she enjoyed the company of both genders. She was also able to suppress these urges, but it all came to a head when she was caught with another girl celebrating her graduation from high school. This was the beginning of the repression of LBGT in Russia, and her parents knew that she would have to go to America to avoid being jailed or worse. Gathering the rest of the money they had, she was sent to Seattle where it felt the cosmoplitan nature of the city would allow her to blend in. She had learned English in high school, but as an exchange student in a foreign port that she'd only visited on vacation a few times, times were very tough.
What helped her along was the hobby she was forced to give up a while ago- wrestling. She made a few friends on the intramural and collegiate teams, which allowed her to come out of her shell in the more open society of Seattle and the Northwest. But there was something else that seemed to stroke her enjoyment- professional wrestling. Perhaps not to the point of the national scene, but the Northwest had several local organizations that allowed her to flex her more dramatic and flamboyant personality. Always wrestling under an assumed name so the Russian government could not find her, she blossomed under the tuteliage of local wrestlers, many of which were old timers who either washed out or retired from the national scene. It allowed her to help supplement her income for college and to learn a bit more about America.
But it was lucky she was wrestling under an assumed name as one day in practice the old saw of her powers seemed to come back. Freezing an opponent that she was grappling, Alex was shocked and dismayed- it didn't get out among the tight knit community but nevertheless, she was afraid that she would have to leave again. Luckily for her, this was 2012 and the Bureau was able to come talk to her and guide her decisions before she went rogue; it turned out that Rocka Khan had enough contacts in the field that word got to the bureau. She was contacted by the Seattle branch and was encouraged in her powers, that they were a gift and not a horrible curse.
That further cemented her love of her new country, though she missed her old terribly. But after she graduated with a Criminal Justice degree, she decided that she would put her powers and her studies to good use. When a slot in the Portland BOS came up, she became a rover between the two offices, training in her powers and lending a hand when they needed help due to the cooperation that the two offices shared.
In 2016, she was given an opportunity of a lifetime. The old Internal Affairs officer in Portland retired, leaving a slot open for a new officer. Already doing some gigs in Portland with her Northwest wrestling, Ice Grip as she was known by then signed on with the support not only of the Seattle BOS but both Sakura and Lodestone who had gotten to know the rough and tumble tigress.
Personality:
She is often described as an example of the "Jolly Russian" stereotype, friendly with a quick wit and physical affectation like a shoulder slap or bear hug. She is serious about her job however, watching out for any sort of issues that might bend the BOS charter too much, but the intimate nature of the office allows her to not have to come in too often, and is even used in some other field offices as an objective observer due to her academic training.
If there is one thing that is a dark spot on her soul however, is that her cheery personality is sometimes a facade, a mask she learned to wear a long time ago to fit in so she could hide her true pain of being separated from her homeland seemingly forever as the current political situation looks. The only person who really knows this side is Sakura, who shares a sympathy and a deep understanding for being cut off from her homeland as well.
