My sweet budgie passed away on the 7th this month. She had fatty liver disease - I hadn’t fed her a proper enough diet. By the time I got her on a healthier diet of pellets instead of seeds, she rapidly went downhill. Despite not being all that tame, she wanted to be on my hand during that time. She’d lost strength and kept falling down to the bottom of her cage, and when I tried to help her back up by letting her climb on my hand, she wanted to stay there, even getting upset when I took my hand away at one point.
She was such a good bird. She loved bells, but most of all her green spiral toy. It had small mirrors that could be flipped around, but forget those, what she loved was that it had a tiny bell on the end. It was her constant companion for 7 years and the bell was buried with her in a lovely grassy field. She was wrapped in a cloth my SO cut from an old shirt that had birds on it, and we attached her other bells onto it, like a shroud for her. She deserved the best, after all.
I wish I could’ve given her more, but I hope she did enjoy her life.
Thank you Skye, for all the fun, for everything. I love you.
