Yeah... Simon has some strong resentment towards Venkats. So much so that it's now just bigotry towards the entire species.

Dang, this kinda hits home for me X3. My mate's little sister went thought a period where she tried to convince him to dump me because she didn't like how we would fight every now and then and she didn't think should get his love when she needed it more.
Granted it was a hard time for his family because their father had just had a stroke. But I was with my mate to help him cheer up and then sometimes he would get so upset we would argue then we would make up and feel like a stronger couple because of it. She took it as I was abusing him and being cold and specifically using him in his weakness to get what I wanted as the evil, scheming and selfish girl she saw me as....despite me ignoring getting a job to support him emotionally.

Thankfully she hasn't done anything like that in a long time, but it still sits in my head.

Families can be like that and it's hard to hold it against them when they grew up with the person. Had a similar experience myself but weirdly for how well I got on with my partners father, brother did not like that.

Chani doesn't know, she would be aware of some of the hostile feelings Viridi have towards Badland Venkats (Chani is a Wilds Venkat), but that's for the another story.
