A rare physical drawing that I did when the power was down. Looked more well put-together in my head.
This is a region of a rpg game im running (sorta).
Greygrove is a sprawling metropolis, divided into multiple districts each large enough to be a city in its own right. It ranges from the palatial Rose district, to the polluted industrial Willow district, to the sprawling slum of the Moss district. And below all these, literally and figuratively, is the Mushroom district.
The Mushroom is a large section of the Moss district that has sunk into a massive sinkhole many years ago. Though many of the buildings remain intact, most of them have toppled over or become half sunken into the pit. Despite this, many people call this jumbled mess of rubble and ruin their home, squatting in the sideways buildings, building flimsy walkways over the streets and pitching coarse tents in the nooks and crannies of this vertical slum.
The only semblance of order in this area are the gangs that call it home; none of the district guards patrol down here. The denizens are rejects even by the low standards of the Moss. Calling it impoverished would be dishonestly generous. And yet, there is opportunity here, of a kind.
The sinkhole offers the best access to the Undercity through breached sewer lines and in some almost totally buried buildings whose front entrances open out into subterranean streets; the remnants of earlier versions of the city that the new Greygrove was built upon. There are entire civilizations down there, existing nearly unknown to the citizens of the surface. Secrets from bygone eras and dangers that have slept for longer than the memories of the city's historians.
