Okay, watched new Beauty & the Beast movie, and got inspired to do a new silicone mask design that's BATB influenced. Yep...I'm a bandwagon-jumping junky.
However I decided to try a new method for creating concept designing; photo manipulation! lol I think I'll be using this method for mask ideas from now on, I can get the measurements right much better like this since I'm modelling on top of a human photo. And damn I look GOOD as a beast...okay, now I'm definitely gonna get started on this mask once all commissions (and the bloody hyena mask I'm STILL finishing up on) are done. XD
I plan on this one being made specifically for LARP, scare-attractions and theatrical work, rather than solely for conventions and halloween, so it'll be as 'close-fitting' yet breathable to wear as possible.
But I'm not sure whether to get started on this before or after christmas...what does everybody else think? Start ASAP or start next year? Your opinions are all much appreciated.

Thanks, I've grown fond of the newer designs I've drawn out too, and yes LARP is very different from cons and parties etc as it involves a lot of direct contact; rubber is soft and stretchy plus waterproof, and open eye-sockets allow full vision which is a MUST for such events (otherwise you'd run into a tree or hurt somebody or yourself due to limited sight).
Latex? For LARP? Hell no! Latex masks not only wobble around on your head due to being hollow unlike Silicone mask which practically stick to your skin, but they are terrible for ventilation! You overheat twice as much and the condensation from your breath and sweat just...urgh, makes me gag remembering children halloween masks as a kid, because I was a werewolf nut even then I never took off my werewolf masks so I stank and looked like I'd just been swimming at the end of the night. So yeah unless they're face prosthetics Latex costumes are no good for long duration events.
Oh no, the hyena mask's movement is touch 'n go because of the muzzle; the longer the snout on a silicone mask the more difficult to get it to move (the Hyena was my very first silicone mask too so I have plenty of room for improvement). This one's meant for close to the face/no long muzzle so the lip movement should be fine, my main concern will be how to insert resin horns and of course the teeth - sculpt tusks into the mask or just get some tusk dentures to wear with it. Something I'll have to decide when I get round to the sculpting.
