Now for my my ambitious concept for posable and blinking eyes.
Engineering the spring-loaded shutter mechanism for the eyes took a LONG time and it's why I haven't posted many status updates as of late. The results are surprisingly good, though, and with some clever wire work and the use of bowden cables, it should be possible to get some really cool expressions operating the cables with my left hand. One cable gives him lazy/angry eyes, another cable makes him squint, and a third cable operates both shutters at once to make him blink. Given that Wac has no pupils, it's only appropriate that his eyes are actually Wite-Out. Haha. I smeared it on the back of a clear DVD cover and sanded the front for a nice, durable matte finish. It looks AWESOME.
All of this is for vlog-style Internet videos, so Wac probably won't be showing his hands very often. I can reserve most of my left arm work for operating the various cables. Movable ears will probably be too much, but the ears will come last, so there's time to think about that. Now that the complicated eyes are finally in place and operating smoothly, I'm really getting exited!
