The Fox trotted quickly along the ground, dodging the scruffy remains of foliage that the drought had killed. He was hungry, and so far hunting wasn’t working out. He had not seen or smelled any prey in over a week, everything probably moved on in search of greener pastures. The fox would have to follow as well too, if things kept up this way. As he came to the dried cracked remains of a creek bed, he sighed, it had been a while since he had had a drink as well.
Before the Fox could even react there was a blinding light and he couldn't move, frozen in place bathed in a brilliant white light. As his eyes adjusted he saw a form before him, it was featureless, almost blending in with the surrounding light. The Fox had never seen anything like it before, there weren't many creatures that stood on 2 legs, yet whatever was in front of him slowly walked towards him on them. Stopping a few lengths away it slowly raised its oddly shaped forepaw towards the fox, holding it out for a second before the fox gasped as he felt shockwaves flow through him.
Which each wave the fox felt something change in his body, at first it was small, but soon he heard various pops and saw his body begin to reshape out of the corner of his eye. The being then raised his arm a bit and the fox felt himself being bought up onto two legs by whatever force it was exerting on him. His legs stretching and popping to adjust to the new posture. The waves continued, but started bringing something new with them that distracted the fox from his changing body.
He began seeing vision of objects, at first they were just various sticks and rocks, but soon they began to form things, his mind eventually recognising them as tools to chop, cut and till. The next vision was of fire, which made the fox feel fear at first, before the understanding of its value and how to create it was passed to him from the being, images of other animals seemingly changed as well all gathered around the fire, all talking and laughing despite being different species.
Before the fox could see more the waves ended as suddenly as they had begun, the fox falling to the ground weakly as the being released him, only able to watch as it faded into the light before the light itself blinked out of existence. Struggling to his feet which felt as natural s all 4’s did only minutes before, he examined his new form, noting his forepaws now looked like a combination of the beings and his old one, able to do much more than before. Looking out upon the desert, he saw a fire flickering in the distance, and decided to head towards it. The visions still fresh in his mind as he stumbled awkwardly in the night, still getting used to his new gait. As he arrived he heard the laughing and saw the others from the vision, they were all speaking a launguage that he now understood. As he came out of the darkness they stopped and looked at him, the air standing still before an older looking hare got up and said...
