Heres the JG-2 that I turned into a long-hooded mask. This was my second attempt at this, after the first atttempt I botched the neck size. Now I know how to do it well, which lead me to making the Cat mask as seen in my previous post. Soon I'll put up my first ever longhoodded mask, which was actually a Horse.

Actually I'm letting others do that Outside the "Jackal Lab": Dimethecone is such a Wonderful thing to shine the masks up with, but the contamination risk here in the "jackal lab" is too high, so I dont use it here. Take a look at

Sculpted the shape, made the outer mold, sculpted the insides, made the inner mold, created vents, sealed the mold edges, poured the latex into it, let it dry, open the mold, let it dry more, take it off the inner mold, let it dry more, grind sprues flat, filled cavities, sanded entire mask, mount onto a finalizing arm where I pour over a candy-coating of latex, then grab the valves and lenses and straps and assemble! :) If I did this straight with no interruptions, 5 days. But RL (like work and house chores n car maintenance) does get in the way quite a bit, so its currently 3 weeks!
Thanks lots :)
Slowly I've seen people having fun with these and shining them up and photographing them!
Cyberwuff has a bunch of shined up photos here, and I've seen some others... Check out the gallery at wildgasmasks.com for other peoples submissions that I've collected!!

your designs get smoother every time you try something more. ^^ one of these days I'm going and try and see how you'd do big cats. :) but I'd have to try one out first. I have trouble breathing sometimes and don't like breathplay, so wearing a real gas maks while with german army service one time for two hours, nearly killed me. :P so I guess I'd go for fake filters instead anyway.
but that's in the future.
right now I wonder that Dimethecone might be. if it's something like silicone I can relate to your ressentiments; silicone is painter's worst enemy. :P you don't want to have that in your paint shop...
