A graphite commission for the adorable Drekena, exploring the mangroves and catching a peek at an equally curious Aratus pisonii (Mangrove Tree Crab). I took extra care in this one, and am very happy with the composition.

I noticed there's a parallel between the patterned crab and the patterning on Kena. Both look right at home in the murky water. This whole image just feels like a polished gem I'm so stoked! What I really dig is the fact there's that mottled pattering AND the scaly texture, I haven't figured out how to do that just yet. She just looks so natural and now I'm all inspired to paint stuff. I've been showing off to my local furry friends this picture and they're all blown away too. This captures that exploration feel so well I'm just so happy!
