Thats basically just a sphere. :)
Or as close to a sphere as you can get. A sphere is almost an ideal armored shape. It has a high chance to deflect from any angle. Now obviously you can't actually have spherical armor (not unless you're Pacman or you're a tribble), but that sort of curved shape works well.
