Blue Macaw's Logo Bunch #126 - TV Channels #53
Welcome Back to Logo Bunch, everybody! Ever since the beginnings of Nickelodeon edition of Logo Bunch, I've discussed the current logos of Nick Jr. (episode 84) and TeenNick (episode 86) as a network themselves. Also in there, I've mentioned about the former channels that Nick Jr. and TeenNick were rebranded as ever since 2009. These former channels I'm talking about were Noggin and The N (NOG/N), and so, here we are today, suggested to me by TheWalkingPencil10 on Deviantart. So let's start off with the first network, Noggin. Noggin began as a joint venture between Sesame Workshop, the guys that brought us Sesame Street, Dragon Tales, and The Electric Company on PBS, and of course, Nickelodeon's Nick Jr., launched on February 2, 1999. Aimed toward preschoolers, it gave us a lot of great educational programs including the ones that were featured on Nick Jr., and also their own line of original programming such as Oobi, Maisy, Pinky Dinky Doo, The Upside Down Show, and Jack's Big Music Show. Noggin continues to entertain many preschoolers on TV until 2009 when it was rebranded as Nick Jr., as I mentioned before. BUT, that's not the end of Noggin as a whole. In 2015, Viacom realized how much kids love Noggin in their childhoods. So, for the sake of it, they decided to revive Noggin as an online streaming service (much like Netflix and Hulu) so that kids can continue enjoying the adventures they had. The logo for Noggin is really famous. I mean, look at it! It's almost as big as the Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. logos, in fact, it was made to be designed like the Nick and Nick Jr. logos where a random object would appear on top of the kid's head, much like how Nick and Nick Jr. would take the form of an object. Cool, huh? Anyways, let's move on to The N. The N began as a nighttime block taking half the space of Noggin from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, aired on April Fools Day 2002. I never watched much of The N, but I do know that it was aimed towards pre-teens and teenagers airing shows such as the Degrassi series as well as the shows that were broadcasted on Nickelodeon's SNICK/TEENick block. However, kids and even teens know that it's not enough. So in 2007, Viacom decided to remove one of it's channels, that being Nickelodeon Games & Sports for Kids, or Nick GaS which is GSN for Kids, in order to make Noggin and The N it's own 24-hour channel. Again, much like with Noggin becoming Nick Jr., The N also changed its name to TeenNick in 2009. But unlike Noggin, it didn't get an online streaming service because it operates exactly like The N. Looking at the logo when it became it's own 24-hour channel, it's so simple that anybody can figure this out. I mean, observe it for yourself. Does it look familiar to you? Yep, it almost look like a molecule or an atom. Maybe Viacom is in to scientific design in that time. It's not as popular as the hand logo from 2002-2007, but it can still fondly be remembered. In fact, both Noggin and The N can be remembered even to this day. In fact, tell me in the comments below about what you remembered about Noggin and The N. And that about wraps up today's episode of Nick Logo Bunch so thanks for joining! See you in the next episode!
