I had never felt so beaten down. As a child in Redfall, I had been bullied and beaten many times, but the pain of that paled in comparison to what I was feeling. A chunk of marble ceiling falling on my head, the feeling of having my scales nearly ripped off, the pain of my insides being torn apart… I felt as if I were at my end. I was going to collapse any moment. I wouldn’t be able to save Jack, support my brother, rescue Wonderland, assist my companions… and I would be no more. I always thought that such feelings and being so close to death would make me break down crying. Instead, I was met with a sinking feeling at the thought of failure and being an utter disappointment. This shifted to anger quickly, as I silently promised myself that I would at least go down fighting.
The entire fight seemed to stop as a loud boom came from behind us. The marble doors [locking us in] burst open as a gigantic mannequin was knocked through them into the room. The mannequin landed on its chest and seemed to be completely incapacitated. We were unable to clearly see who had taken it down, as the victorious fighter was obscured by rising dust…
This is a picture of the tenth in-game day of my current Pathfinder campaign with DM
Bomba and players
Marshtomphappy,
Serophous,
MonsterMutt,
CaitSith and
Quinn. Locked into a battle for our lives, I and the rest of the party found ourselves getting overwhelmed. Two party members were near death, one of which was our primary healer. By a stroke of luck, Quinn's catfolk character Caden was sent by NPC salamander Corbin to our area for an unexplained reason, and his healing talents gave us the strength to fight onward.
…what do you mean "It wasn't luck and the DM set you up to fall so that the healer could have a big moment?" Bomba wouldn't do that to us! Stop slandering his good name!
You can follow up on the latest events in the campaign as written by Lank/Gargantua here. This campaign captivates me more with every session that passes because of the intense character development that us players willingly undergo and that Bomba facilitates.
