Pokéventure - Page 16 [...Test?]
Since I'm reading more mangas now and trying to learn from them, I've wanted to use this Pokeventure page to try and implement what I've seen so far.
Sooo... not 100% sure if I like it xd It's very refreshing to draw different things and it showed me the difference to the other pages, which appear quite pale compared to this one since I've never used a lot of black/contrast before.
The black frame was always nice to have but working without it showed me that it was limiting the way I could shape the pages and panels a little. Actually allowed me to just sketch the next couple pages without worrying about perfectly placed panels all the time.
A "kinda bad?" result is that it removes the sketchy look and a bit of the feel while drawing which has been a huge comfort zone for me, but I guess that's just normal when you try out changes.
Welp, maybe I'll try it again, maybe I'll try to find a mix between the new and old elements, but anyway, let me know what you think about the new look~

I think its been awkward for quite some time. Only now Charizard is hungry.
I really like the new style, and I think it'd be cool to mess with in some random pics or entire new comic! But I think for this (and for Schwarzipez (I am SOOOOO sorry if I butchered the spelling), I think you should stick with one style, so as to avoid making things too jarring. While I personally like both, I feel the other style fits more for your mroe semi-comedic, semi-serious style when it comes to comics. but I feel this slightly more realistic one could fit well for single pics
Ohhhhh, das sind wirklich große 'zard Pfoten, hast nicht zuviel versprochen, sehen so knuffig aus
Das 'zard wäre sicherlich super zum kuscheln

It looks great to me~
Especially the first panel is so impressive ^-^
Not that much of a fan of Charizard, but this picture is just amazing.
Great work like always.
In the end the decision how you draw it is up to you, trying out new things is always good to improve.
Sometimes it brings up an awesome result :3
To me this picture looks awesome, the shadings are great and I lake the new layout~
But I think it's the most important that you feel well with what you draw in the end. So the mix option sounds like a good solution to me, but after all you should just try it out, see if you get used to it or feel better with a mix or the old style.
Good luck with finding the best solution for you.
Keep up the amazing work :3

Personally, either is fine, I haven't even noticed that until you mentioned.
Why doesn't the Pikachu just explain what is going on and why he can not say where exactly they are going? <=/ I'm proud of his patience so far. x3 lol
"So this pokeball compass we found is leading that way so we are following it." For all Charizard knows they are heading north.
Looks rather good to me. Love manga myself so I adore this hehe.
I like the new style. And that charizard really looks intimidating in that second big panel. He seems to be really annoyed after flying for hours. :S
And also... Kinda surprising that charizard can hold back his stomach for that long. But as you're not a fan of fatal or digestion in general, the buizel is certainly still fine... Just very wet by now probably. x3

so, im guessing the previously eaten pokemon is on the dead side, since it has been a while
Uh oh! Pikachu is in trouble! XD But anyway the way you draw is up to you. And I believe Buizel is still alive.
OMG that face :D :D poor little Chu is going to get PTSD from that ride.

One Buizel ain't enough to feed a hungry giant like that! trust me, I would know. Perhaps one little nibble couldn't hurt!
Anyways, it looks great still! I do dig the shading in this page, makes it all look smooth and better defined. The panel squares look great here too, but of course in the end it's just how you, the artist, finds it most comfortable and easier to use. Change is always welcome, but so is keeping some old techniques. it'd be quite frustrating and tiring to change everything without having something to fall back on as a comfortable zone. At least until you get comfortable with the new technique you can then work on the other.

Main Flight Rule: Never make angry to a big hungry Char while traveling.
I hope you're not using one punch man mangas as reference other wise this stuff will get weird crazy and awesome all in one and no one will understand it just laugh at it
Lovely. I think I notice what you did there~
I've got a feeling Umbreon is also going to get mixed up with Pikachu's foolishness.
Don't you dare hurt that cute Pikachu, you oversized lizard or I will be the one to devour you >:c

and if you devour Charizard, I'll devour you. :3 I'll always revenge a firebro plus the tiny Pikachu is asking for it.
I know but maybe the Pikachu wants a better "seat" and is too afraid to ask :D
*noms* Sparky. Don't ever call Charizard, lizards. They are dragons. DRAGONS!!!
Yeah but as MatPat said in his latest Game Theory, the Pokedex lies.
*looks at my dex* nuuuuu T~T *lays on char tummy* all those hours Dx
Yes, but you know how I feel about Charizards being called lizards, instead of dragons. It pisses me off.
That's just it. He doesn't know where 'there' is. Not like that thing says how far away the destination is.
Amazing increase in comic quality. Keep this up and you're going to end up as one of the 'kinky pokemon comics gods'.
The new look looks nice in retrospect, it gives it that "burst" look and increases the value of the page (contrast of blacks and whites). Unlike the others this gives the page that look of what the scene(s) would look like with the sun actually shedding light onto the characters and the setting. Also depth, which can be seen on the underside of Char's muzzle becomes much more recognizable and emphasizes the overall structure and shape.
Just my opinion, it's a nice change in style overall!

Pls, do a pannel where pikachu will ne eat.
Nice work as always.
Nice work as always.
And then suddenly... A spike of quality!
More character to the page and more depth to the tones. Really lovely.
Panels 2, 3 and 5 are just... really awesome. In fact, the spacing between each panel has really enchanced the comic! And well, on top of that, "oddly" placed panels like 2 and 4 add quite a bit to quality as well.
Thumbs up

And something tells me Charizard won't be inclined to let this meal go when all's said and done.
Yall people going "buizel is ded" needs to remember, S2 Freak aint friggin like fatal or digestion stuffssss
And now pikachu
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
:D
That Face
Awesome

I like the new style. The increased contrast and shadows work well to give it more of a manga-esque look. I say go with whatever you prefer.
They should fly in an S-pattern to check how far they are. More needle movement = closer.
Charchar looks great even under this different perspective, and always good to have him big and mighty!
I still am very amazed at how well your draw is and how great you are at making size difference so evident and yet so casual. Your Charizard is by far the best rappresentation of being big and yet somewhat normal for someone of his size. And even in the 14th page, you made him look totally huge and loomy.
