Been meaning to post up all the character designs that the very lovely  hanazawa has been posing up for me, here is one of them. Dr Genesis aka Professor Conrad Oskar!

Formerly a well known a revolutionary genetic scientist back in the late 70’s to early 80’s, professor Conrad Oskar was a Polish born bear whose parents had smuggled out of the country for a new life in America.

After growing up in Chicago’s Polish community, as well as adapting to western culture, he fell in with the cultural revolution of the late 60’s to 70’s as he entered College age, as he quickly found that he had a strong attraction to other males.

He was accepted into Harvard university, where he earned his PhD in genetic science at the age of 25. His research and knowledge greatly increased the progress the field of genetics was making, receiving many offers from big corporations for job placements.

He decided however to take a different approach as he found out Union university was looking to setup a genetic research laboratory, and his offer to help setup and run it was quickly accepted.

From 1985 to 1989 he ran the genetics laboratory at union university and gave lectures to attending students. He also came across friends with students and other other lecturers such as undergraduate and soon to be Dr Lillian Larson, Professor Kevin Hoofnagle & Dr Daniel Bowles.

He formed a close and well respected friendship with Lillian, especially when she came to him for help regarding the condition of the infamous energy vampire Drain who she seemed to find a cure for.

During this time he also became increasingly obsessed with super genetics and was branching off into the field of eugenics as well, as he seeked to unlock what created a super furson. He was also dealing with hidden feelings he had at the time towards Daniel Bowles, as he sort to eventually claim him.

His obsession soon took a dangerous turn as he began to log his experiments and began testing genetic compounds in himself, noting down the results and side effects as it became clear that the desire to become the perfect genetic subject. His splicing of various DNA strands and forming a genetic serum from sampled he took from drain as well as from a unknown source had a nasty effect on his body.

He mutated with alligator like features, incredible strength and durability and with the terrifying ability to temporarily absorb, drain and gain a furson's ability via physical contact at will. He was so far gone that he laughed and rejoiced at his new appearance as he believed that he has achieved greatness.

Conrad trashed the lab and decided to show the world his genetic superiority by going on a rampage as he took up the name Dr Genesis, soon enough he began his assault, absorbing the powers of supers around the city of Colmaton and broadcasting his superior genetics message across the city by taking the television network station staff hostage.

He was barely stopped by Voltage Vixen I, forced into retreat but showed up again, kidnapping Daniel Bowles and professing his desire to have Daniel all to himself as well as to share his genetic gift with him. Voltage Vixen again came to the rescue and finally manage to defeat the hybrid villain, earning him a one way ticket to Galatap Prison.

During his time in jail, he was secretly contacted by Dr Cyberclaw, who arranged for him to be broken out of prison, freeing him to spread his reign of terror across Colmaton yet again. He focused his attention on Voltage Vixen, both facing her alone and working alongside Cyberclaw, However with time he gave up any further attempt to kill Voltage Vixen after he discovered that she was Lillian Bowles and had married Daniel.

He continued his genetic and eugenics pursuits while still a villain, but after Daniel Bowles death in 1996, while dealing with the grief that the man he longed for was gone, he secretly formed a tense but respectful friendship with Voltage Vixen, as a promise to help her find a cure for Drain, doing so as a way to honor Daniel’s memory by helping the woman that his crush had married. This ended after Lillian was killed back in 2000, with Conrad then disappearing all together with all the research notes and samples that he and Lillian worked on.

Rumors are that he was offered a position at Hinamizawa Biotech in Japan and was apart of the research division heading project bloodlust, his hand or role in the project and what has now been known as the Hinamizawa incident remains a mystery.

What is certain is that he resurfaced in the United States shortly after the Hinamizawa incident and again began to target supers for genetic sampling and experiments. Since then he has been a dangerous thorn in the side of superheroes and especially to the male super population.
