A funny coincidence, uninfected people who are friends with a lot of hive members, often eventually find that they've become a succubat host themselves

fair. Some of the even more scrupulous hives are very upfront about their recruitment

Being in the hive is an objectively good thing to a lot of hive members. The parasite does not force them to convert someone.
But in addition to hive members who think they're just doing what's best for you, if you hang out you're more likely to be near stray parasites, will deal with more talk about why you should join (for your health, for your safety, so you can be together more, etc). Plus hanging around a lot of hive members suggests a person who isn't too loyal to their country to even consider it. People who have host friends are as a group more open to being a host than someone who treats hive members like demons impersonating people

But what about people who were friends before they were taken by the hive? I guess treat it like leprosy and exile? And I'm not saying hanging out with a lot of hive members, just one on one hanging out. Just because two people of two different religious orders hang out together doesn't mean they are trying to convert each other, it doesn't always work like that. Otherwise schools would need to be separated due to religious violence.

To be clear: the view from inside the hive is that getting hit by a succubat was the moment your life turned around for the better. You're still *you*, but you've been given a body that just feels a hundred times better than the old one. You've got all these new friends! You've got someone to look up to, and new fulfilling duties! It's fantastic! What kind of person wouldn't want to share that with everyone they care about?

Imagine people dieting, or people into crossfit or yoga, think of parents, or mac users. They all think it's the best thing that happened to them, and it's a big part of their life. They talk about it all the time, and try to convince you to try it too.
Now imagine it literally and demonstrably gave them super powers, cured cancer, got rid of their depression, and made them prettier.

One its called "if its too good to be true it probably is" any creature or society that ignores one person's choice is capable and willing to ignore other choices, even if doing so harms innocents. An outsiders thoughts hear me out. " if they are willing to convert you without asking, thinking about what's best for you, the hive might sacrifice you without asking, on the basis of what's best for them." Its the idea of moral slippery slopes.

'One its called "if its too good to be true it probably is"' D... do you think succubats are a real thing I'm just reporting????
With how much you ignore the things I say, and keep shifting the conversation, it feels like you just have some headcanon you're trying to make me verify, or a real question that you aren't asking me. Like you asked if someone can be friends with a hive without becoming a host, I SAID YES, and then you started shifting goalposts and getting mad about some pre concieved notion of things.

I think it might have more in common with mitochondria, an entity that the cells of our ancestors essentially decided to keep and isn't really a part of our DNA, but gives cells more energy than they could make/get themselves.
Compared to fandoms, the difference is that you're free to leave at any time, whereas a symbiotic relationship like this is probably difficult to back out from.
