No Ponies Required- Inclu-versity- Y'doin' It Right!
Why good morning to all of you fine furry felch-factories!
With apologies to those of you in a night-time time zone, *hands up* nothing personal... and to those of you who aren't down with felching either, come to think of it... s'not really my bag, either so much... *head tilts* Not kink-shaming anyone... just... err...
WELL *claps her hands* Where DO we begin? SO much going on in the world these days... *sighs, smiling wistfully* Do we talk about the newest mass-shooting? or the new D.o.J. statement that Trans people will no longer be protected by 1964's Title VII anti-discrimination policy? Or the newest case of "freedom of religion" winning out over basic decency, established facts and human dignity? So very much going on worth going on ABOUT...
*sighs, popping her neck, whispering* I'll let you in on little secret... I've got enough to deal with right now. *smiles* and I'll bet a few of you do, as well. So, let's look at some positivity for a sec, eh wot?
"Inclusivity"! "Diversity"! Two words which seem to be thrown about so often on the internet by such angry little people who... well*furows her brow*... I don't think they're doing it right.
Y'see, this world is big. *scritches her bridge* I correct myself, HUGE. This world is huge. There are more people, more places, more cultures than you or I will ever get to see. Many of them have their own languages, their own foods and ways of seeing their corner of the world. They have their own songs, their own sounds and stories. They have their own histories and their own mythology about where we all came from and where we're all heading. They all LOVE good parties and have their own unique ways of throwing them. They all like to laugh and they all like to make love in the most interesting of ways... *head tilts, wincing* Granted some of them are assholes... True. *tches* Sad to say, there's a bigot and a racist in every house and street-corner of the world, ready to throw up their soup-bones and shout "NOT in MY Back Yard!" but hey- *smiles, arms wide* There's some great people too, and there's a million and one things you can learn from them.
Now- the really neat thing about THAT is you can take those things you've learned from the many far-flung corners of the globe next door and apply them to yourselves, in the process changing you, just a little bit but also changing them. You both learn a little and you both grow a little, expanding your understanding of the world, each other and yourselves, if you're wise enough. It's called "sharing" and contrary to some popular beliefs, it can be pretty fucking awesome.
Now... I know this kind of thinking will send certain types of creepy creatures scurrying to their bag of bitters to spew their loathing and unpleasant foulness all over everything. Some are already typing their mean-spirited little snarky comebacks and comments... Something about "affirmative action", "Pee-See Kullt-Choor!" and those vicious "Ess Jay Double-Yoo's"! *laughs, shaking her head* Just stop it. Please. For your own good, let it go. *sing-songs hands to the air* Let it goooo- Let iiit gooo-ooooo.... *smiles broadly* The world is getting just a bit smaller everyday. With the internet, we can talk with a Sherpa in the Himalayas or my Ex-wife in Utrecht *smirks* and sooner or later, we're all coming together into one, big, semi-functional family of human beings.
You can grow with that however you choose to dear watchers, excited and happy , open to the new things you encounter *frumps* or bitter and fearful, isolating yourself from the scary new things... My advice? Learn from someone new today, lovely watchers. Whether a new word, a new laugh or a new way to listen. It's a fucking amazing world if you'll just keep trying. *folds her fingers and smiles* One world, beautiful watchers. One Love.

I know you're not the fondest of the internet thing, *Pats her laptop with a smile* but as you said "the world is getting just a bit smaller everyday" thanks to this little bugger. I have friends from all over the world thanks to this. Ones in London,Wales,UK in general,Ireland,Belgium,Africa,Australia,Netherlands, even one in Asia, and of course dozens scattered over the US. They're all like minded, most I've found on one generalized site and or one other since they're the main ones I wander about on. But I love hearing about the things they like to do in their culture, what they do with their family,or are cooking for that night. I also love the questions I may get when I mention something that they know nothing about or may have only heard in passing about us. Love the questions on food when I mention something southern I might cook. *Chuckles*
But I see no point in being hateful about people's culture, heritage, where they come from. I mean its far much more fun and enjoyable to get to know someone there who is a lot like you,or someone you'd hang out with despite who they are because you simply like them. Its also easier on you, than trying to find some mean spirited or bigoted thing to say about someone in my personal opinion. *Shrugs*

im no fan of people ram rodding their ideas of diversity down other peoples collective throats, i dont agree with diversity for the sake of it, but rather it should be allowed to take a more natural flow to it.
Not to seem like a negative nancy but at the end of the day, one cultural sensitivities belong only to the people with in that culter. That is not to say that surrounding cultures should make some concessions to them and vice versa to cohabit our shared living spaces.
I certainly champion people learning as much from others as they possibly can, particularity if something positive can be learned from the endeavor, for example somethings that work rather well EG: Recycling as compared to just dumping all their rubbish in the local rivers.
On a more positive note, while im not of Hispanic decent i do rather enjoy quite allot of things from Latino culter such as Food, Music and even some Holidays like Cinco De Mayo and Day of The Dead, and it is that sort of thing that i think to be at the heart of what you where saying. Learn From/about others and enjoy their little quirks

I remember you telling me that this world will either be a hell or a paradise, it all depends on who's willing to fight for it. I might never forget those words of yours. Well, my choice is clear. I choose to make this little rock of ours tumbling through space, or at least my own humble corner of it, into something to be proud of. Not just for myself, but for everyone. It makes me think of that oh so flimsy slogan of our esteemed president's election campaign, "Make American great again". THAT is missing the point. America is (or at the least was) already great. And the reason why is so simple. It's because we have accepted so many other cultures and ways of life over the years we've been around. We embraced new ideas, we welcomed immigrants from all reaches of this globe. None of them should be preeminent to the next, they are ALL important. Our diversity is our strength. Our differences should be valued, it's part of what makes us who we are, and not just as a country but as individuals. But that doesn't mean we should focus ONLY on those differences. We're all still human, we're all driven by the same needs and wants, to eat, sleep, love, live.
The most important things to remember are that no matter who you are, or where you're from, or what you may have learned, you can only see the world from your perspective as you have come to understand it. Then you may start a conversation with the person next to you and find that they see things in an entirely different light you would've never conceived. And suddenly you find that there's a bigger picture of the world, and what you originally recognized was only one hue of a rainbow. Even if you find you have broad similarities with someone, a close friend, family member, or lover, you can still be surprised by what they truly know. This is why sharing each other's viewpoints is essential to understand each other, allowing everyone to carry on our lives harmoniously, and doing right by ourselves by opening up new possibilities.
Hoever, it should be said again not to dwell on our differences either. Because the alternative of focussing on only our contrasts... well, we see how that worked out for folks in the past, for example take a look at Germany around the 1940s. Hell, you can see it now in our own country. The folks that cry out for these things like "freedom of religion", the ones who judge others simply because they have a lifestyle unlike theirs that they can't relate do and have no care for. The ones who see people of a different skin color, or hears them call god by another name, or speaks a language they don't recognize and believe it somehow makes them less of a human than the are, when it truth it's no different than having a different favorite color. it's these inconsiderate bastards that are our downfall. These are the people that represent our weakness. They're people using a dangerously old mindsets that have developed from not having their attention focussed outward enough. Baby boomers who think they've seen it all, and because they're so sure of it themselves they allow their minds to narrow into a single file hallway that they save just enough space for them to get by. This is the danger of fixating on differences, you end up one of them. They've convinced themselves they have no need for new ideas or alternate perspectives because their way has worked for so long. Well, that would be fine if they just kept it to their damned selves. But it seems many of these self righteous, arrogant pissfucks never miss a chance to show off how little they actually know about the world. And despite how hard we try, they will always be around. That's why it's up to the rest of us to fight for the world we want.
I ask that you bear this in mind, though. It's very easy to hate people like this, they MAKE it easy with how much hate they use themselves. But remember that while fighting for love is probably the most noble thing one can do, it shouldn't be twisted into a love of fighting. Again, as much as these people despise differences in others, they are people too. Just like you they've got motives and aspirations. Not that I'm telling you you to hold back if you punch a guy for bullying you or someone you care about, I'm just asking you to remember that guy may have to take his broken nose or jaw home to a family who actually care about him.
