Just a quick thing… I needed a new icon and thought I would try something different. The result was this, a speedily painted image created using blocks of colour and relentless scribbling!
I’ve always been astounded by the digital artists out there who are able to paint using colour alone. They somehow manage to mould seemingly shapeless blobs into amazingly detailed works of art. To do this they must have a very good grasp of colour theory.
Personally, I’ve become used to working with a scanned sketch as a guide, but I must admit that I’m keen to try other methods that say goodbye to the original line work at the end of the painting process or don’t use it at all. I suppose it’s all just a matter of taste and technique. You either ‘under paint’ or ‘over paint’. It just depends on what you feel comfortable with. ;)

amazing work, and I know you'll get where you want to with color, because well, you already have an amazing grasp of it already. Your works hit me deep, so be proud lol. I really get a nice chill from his expression, and the wickedness of the image overall. Amazing work, looks wonderful!
Oh dear sweet Leo, how far I have to look up to see your muzzle. You really are amazing <3 I can't figure out speedpainting either, I guess the overpainting's too hardwired in me and it makes me feel like I just hit a limit of what i can do. I'll just have to look up at you forever
Much love

:) Well, in all honesty, the humour that was present in Sondheim's original musical was completely removed from the Burton film. That was my only gripe. If you like horror and all things dark, then by all means, enjoy watching it. It's a great movie, I just prefer the dark humour of the stage musical. :)
Actually, this stuff is based on the original Sweeney Todd story published in 1846 and that is so shockingly different to the movie. Unfortunately, it's a rather long and drawn out read, so again, it's not to everyone's tastes. :(

:) In that case, you can either read it online here: http://www.victorianlondon.org/myst.....ey_todd-01.htm or buy the book here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sweeney-Tod.....412&sr=1-1 (Ha ha, the comment at the bottom of the page is amusing but true). XD
And yes, Depp sings surprisingly well. ;)
