As part of Exilo's ongoing "City-verse" which is an attempt to build a lore where EVERYTHING: macro, micro, normal, ferals (four legged), humans, dragons, possibly robots; can all exist at the same time, he's outlined a lot of ideas as to how they can all live together.
As you will notice, Sadie (the lion) and Xander (the wolf) wear collars. The collars are required for ferals to speak "Basic," (though they can understand it naturally) which is essentially a type of Esperanto. Because Exilo comes up with a ridiculous amount of lore. Seriously, he drew up a map of how this new world looks and has been working on a timeline.
Anyway, aside from the collars, there are "Feral Reservations," where ferals can go, strip down nude, and in general act like their ancestors. There are non-sapient game to hunt, Some prey ferals and anthros actually go to have the fun of running from a "predator" (actually an employee). Still others go to hunt non-sapient exotic species, though a guide makes absolutely sure the victim is not a customer as well. The importance of the collars is they are a sign that the person in question is a legal citizen and not one of the non-sapient animals.
Heh, sorry for the lore dump, but I am very happy with this picture. The artist, who does a sort of "Disney" style, still made Xander look like a wolf. The only minor problem is that Xander seems a little small compared to Sadie (he's about 10% larger) but I still love the amount of emotion they have. I like to think they made a game of hunting each other. Whoever is able to pounce on the other wins. In this, Xander managed to pounce Sadie after climbing a rock, and is now taking his rightful "victory" of mandatory cuddles.
