Hey guys, it's that time of the month where I do some new reviews.
This time it was about time I visited another cigar blend I have overlooked for awhile until more and newer
blends of been coming in. With Steven's recommendations, I went with La Gloria Cubana for this one! Let's get to it!
La Gloria Cubana Serie R #5:
Wrapper: Ecuador
Filler: Dominican Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
The appearance spoke to me "We may look traditional, but we are still keeping up." The red gold, and La Gloria lady on the band represents this. The stick itself was very comfortable and fit my holding. The wrapper was broad, rough, and gave off a good shimmer from the slightly oily appearance. The feel was a bit rough and toothy, built strong for a long lasting smoke. Seems and veins were present giving this ol' gal a tough look. Let's light her up.
The Burn Part 1:
The first few puffs were very spicy in pepper notes. ALOT of pepper. Looks like this girl still has some punch in her to this very day. Some earthy notes came into play to settle some of the pepper, but still had alot of impact. The draw was sublime and even burning as well. By the near end of the first 3rd, some low toned cocoa notes began to envelope. My head was starting to feel the impact.
The Burn Part 2:
The point where you either need to stay seated or walk around for a bit, this stick at this point started to make that decision hard to make. The body immediately became full and the pressure was staggering. The pepper notes remained in the same level of body. The earth notes became a little more floral as it went along. The cocoa notes grew a little as well even with the retro hale. Still the body was killing me. Not much change.
The Burn Final:
I was at the point of nearly falling down with a massive headache until the body started to smoothen out alot. The pepper notes backed off a bit, while the earthy floral notes became a little more vibrant and in the for front while the low tone cocoa did the same but remained in last place. with the last puff, I put this stick in the ashtray for a proper burial. I was done for the day. Noi second cigar afterwords. it was just too damn intense.
Verdict:
I felt I was physically abused and beaten by a beautiful women and given a goodbye kiss and well wishes as she wandered off leaving me with a confused look on my face. What a way to start off the month. If you got some balls, give this one a try.
Next Week: La Gloria Cubana Obelisco
See you then!
