I said I'd give them names, and I figured I'd try to refine my style a bit while I did so. So here's the artist formerly known as [Nonspecific small dog thing], now named Alfalfa.

Bio:

Alfalfa was born the runt of the litter to a family of ferals in the wild; his mother, certain he would not survive in the wilds but unwilling to dispose of him, brought him to the city to live with her cousin. Alfalfa, who quickly acquired the ironic nickname "Alpha" from his peers, had a great deal of difficulty fitting in with the other children. The herbivores mistrusted him due to his feral heritage, while the carnivores mocked him for his stature (a problem not helped by a strict vegan diet).

Nowadays he still lives with his first cousin, once removed, Caramel, or "Aunt Mel", collecting useful scrap from alleyways, drainage pipes and junkyards for a modest pay. Unfortunately his work often takes him in to the more dangerous parts of town...
