Hello to all you lovely walmart-sacks filled with Great Value branded love and affection and welcome to what I hope to be a decently pleasant Saturnsday, all things considered.

Now, assuming you live in America... amerika, 'murrica, whichever one you think of it is, and also assuming you keep up with current events... as in at all, you'll likely be aware of our president's recent meeting with a group of...*grits her fangs* interesting... people known as "The Value Voters" and the subsequent speech he gave to them. *smiles, eye twitching* I would provide you with a link to video footage of the matter but watching it again would cause me to vomit and as I have to be at work shortly, that could be problematic.

For those of you not "in the know" as the kids say, "The Value Voters" are a large-enough-to-be-troublesome group of very religious people whom ...well... basically, they want this country to be a theocracy. they have such lovely ideals as making the christian bible a mandated part of schooling, criminalizing homosexuality etc. etc... just super people. No sitting president has ever met with them due to their very radical ideals on our culture and government.

Now... should you find yourself in that camp of people who are currently thinking to yourself "but Ashley... christianity should be the defining feature of our government." *hands up* Of course, you are free to think that all you want. You'd still be wrong but you are free to think it.

One of the basic building blocks of our nation's history is that our government shall never impress upon someone's religious expression, ANYONE. Be you Hindu, Buddhist, atheist, Satanist, Mormon, pray to The Morrigan or the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or even christianity that is a right you're supposed to have, an inalienable one, at that. At NO point is our government supposed to ever be picking sides, only to remain an impartial observer of all us nutjobs and step in if things get too out of hand. This is why this matter is so disgusting to see.

I do need to be going, I'm afraid, as I'm naked and still have to get to work. *tches* Sticky-wicket that. However I will also add in parting, dearest watchers, that if you find yourself feeling or thinking that your religion still deserves to be in charge of everyone else or perhaps that it is "persecuted, I would ask of you to do me a brief favour- being, please crack open a dictionary and learn the accurate definition of that word. You're using it incorrectly. If you'd like to gain a better understanding of what "persecuted" means, ask a gay or trans person, perhaps an older black woman, She'll likely have some very fascinating information for you on the subject. Ideally, I'd recommend asking a Native American but unfortunately we have made them a little difficult to locate over the years... ehhh.....

And if you truly wish to live in a country wherein religion dictates policy to all it's citizens, worry not. There is indeed such a place and they'd be thrilled to see you there, though you may find that you'll be having to convert to Islam.

Or possibly Catholicism.
