A cartoon I drew last year after ages of not doing anything. I was going to do a single-panel comic about Interesting Things In Science, but this is the only one that happened so far.
It's about Robin Dunbar's social grooming hypothesis of language evolution, that primates that lived in large groups didn't have the time to go round manually grooming all their friends, so they made noises back and forth instead to keep in touch and maintain their friendships. And the thing they most wanted to communicate about was what everybody else was doing, and thus came complex language.
