Patra is the result of a throwaway joke during a writing/brainstorming session of a podcast I was enjoy (The Crapshoot, by LoadingReadyRun), an 'uncomfortably hot cow' to go with a ridiculous t-shirt slogan: "Thick Milk?".
I did an impromptu drawing of her for Inktober, and I was just really happy with the result I had to draw her properly.. and as it so happened the new Adoptable Base I was making fit her quite well!
I'm still not entirely sure if I'm happy with her hair colour, and a few other minor visual details... but I'm really looking forward to draw her again.
Along with her name I was given some suggestions about what she could do for a living, and it was just want I needed to really get her rolling.
Patra grew up in a liberal household, she was home-schooled by her Grandparents (who lived a one neighbourhood over), and would often spend her after-school hours with their neighbour's children.
She and her two aunts often modeled for artist and photographer friends of the family, and she grew up with very little int he way pf physical or sexual shame (she'd been given increasingly informative sex-education as she was growing up and so the mystery of the physical side of it was never alluring, instead she focused on the emotional and dynamic aspects of relationships, friendly or intimate, which resulted in her being very open, communicative and sometimes socially inappropriate, though those incidents were quickly followed up with gentle guidance and explanations.
Eventually puberty did hit, and it hit particularly hard. Her confidence, large, technical words and assertiveness tended to put off and intimidate other teens her age, and she was forced to take care of her libido herself, often writing elaborate fantastical journal entries to revisit later, and perhaps refine and improve.
She started reading whatever romance material she could get her hands on, learning the more flowery metaphors for intercourse and bodies. She sought out fanfiction on the internet when she exhausted the Romance section of her local library, and found herself dissatisfied, and using the online handle of "Nioma Parthenia", inspired by her favourite Moon Princess, Patra began posting her (now spellchecked and grammatically improved) journal entries as examples of the kind of erotica she wanted to read.
This lead to her finding several online authors, many whom she befriended, as well as gaining her own fan following. She took critiques into account and leaned into her strengths, slowly working on her weaknesses, but also being aware that sometimes taste and sensibilities that differed from her own could result in negative comments.
While in college, she worked as a life-drawing model and baby-sitter, using any still or solitary moment to think about her next plot point, or sex act she could depict, and it wasn't long before she invited her favourite artist out for a dalliance - they had good chemistry in the studio, why not find out if the same could be said for the bedroom?
They initially declined, thought flattered, opting to go on a few dates first, and over the course of these outings, her date was VERY surprised to find out she was a virgin, and that she was the author of an extensive archive of erotica.
It was a little overwhelming, they admitted, and needed to think about it. The next day she received a breathless phonecall, asking if she was busy. She wasn't, and spent the next 6 hours getting dehydrated. There were some awkward fumbles but otherwise it was better than she imagined.
Money became tighter in her final year of college, and she began to sell sexual services to pay her bills; she had become very good at reading people and kept a very small but dedicated stable of customers who she had handpicked herself... the ones with the best imagination were her favourite, she enjoyed and appreciated a little role-play and inventiveness.
She incorporated every encounter into her writing in some way or another, perhaps moving the location to somewhere more exotic or fictional, and certainly changing names and species.
One day a close friend asked her if she'd ever thought to try publishing any of her stories, either an anthology, or maybe a full length novel.
Patra had not, and was immediately taken by the idea. She began work gathering her most popular stories and making them fit together better, contacting as many publishers as possible. She received a few rejections but most were simply ignored. Having no time to worry about it, after all, if being published was easy, everyone would have a book. Turning to self-publishing, Patra started making a modest additional income, saving only her freshest stories for big publishers. Anything that was not picked up after 6 months would be added to her online-store.
Several productive years later, Patra was surprised to find a letter expressing interest in her writing. She hadn't exactly lost hope, her online store, sex-business and modelling work were keeping her comfortably roofed and fed, but at this point trying to get published was simply a habit, like taking out the trash or having a shower.
Negotiations were a little rocky; she was not used to writing for anyone but herself, but eventually an agreement was reached and she had a contract.
Her first novel sold well enough for more to be commissioned, and while not reaching household-name levels of fame, she still felt like the literary cow of the year, with book-signings and guest-appearances littering her schedule. The future is looking bright and there's so many more people she's hoping to sleep with, and new things to try in the bedroom... Patra hopes she can keep up with it all.
Her family is very proud of her, and wear "NUMBER 1 FAN" hats to local book-signings and readings.
She is still friends with that artist from college... she's wondering if they might say 'yes' to an open marriage, but first she needs to find the right ring... or perhaps she should start with asking them if they would like to find an apartment all their stuff will fit into.

I'll probably include more tidbits about her life as I draw more of her, but I admit, it's mostly sex, modeling or writing while nude.
